Default LM7 into 59 Chevy Pickup problems

I have put 6000 trouble free miles on my 2004 5.3/460E/harness/ecm transplant into the 59 pickup. Last week, I slowed down to turn into driveway and soon as I straightened out, the truck went wide open so fast, all I could do was hang on with my foot on brake. It blasted about 40-50 feet in yard and demolished itself onto a 100 year or so old oak tree.
Also, I ended up in hospital with 5 broke ribs, fractured breast, plastic surgery on broken up nose inside, and concussion. Not to mention 3 weeks in hospital.
I have done several transplants over last few years, and never had problems before.
Can anyone offer some insight?
Thanks,
Ron

That sucks, I hope all is well with you now.

My guess is a bad IAC if it's a cable driven throttle body. I had a similar incident once going down a busy road but I didn't hit anything.
In the future, kill power to the engine or toss it in neutral and let it go. I know it's not your first reaction but it works and keeps you alive.

What do you think iac would do it?
Guys, when you are not expecting this kind of event, and are just turning into driveway at what maybe 6-10 mph its easy to say what to do, but all I could do was hang on and mash brake just like I was doing. Might try something else next time. It was a total shock.
Any help or knowledge would be great.
I would think the ecm would know if there was a brake signal and to cut power to electronic throttle. Any opinions on that?
I would like to figure out,so the next guy does better, or maybe a fix to ecm to stop.

So is it drive by wire or drive by cable? DBW doesn't have an IAC, it used the throttle body. I have never heard of one messing up like that if its DBW. It doesn't have a Chinese throttle body on it does it?

An all original 2004 Silverado 5.3/4L60E/ecm/harness setup I pulled out of pickup and installed in the 59 pickup myself. It had gone about 6100 trouble free miles before this. The throttle body was original GM in fine as far as I can tell. I want to re-build truck when I get healed, but not interested in healing again. LOL
Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Ron

You STILL haven't answered the question- Drive by cable OR drive by wire? They came both ways.

Are you 100% sure you weren’t mashing on the accelerator pedal and not the brake pedal? I have heard of people doing this and running through a garage or house because they thought they were braking but instead they actually had their foot on the accelerator pedal. When I was younger 30-40 years ago I thought how dumb can someone be to make a mistake like that, until one day in a parking lot I did that exact same thing and almost ran over a person, it can and does happen.

I am pretty sure I am not alone on having done this by accident, now in no way am I questioning your health and stability but I know some people in their fifties that definitely shouldn’t be driving and I know some people in their 80-90’s that are still sharp as a tack. Either way here is to hoping you heal quickly and get to the root cause of this instance.

I questioned that myself about that at first, but after getting out of hospital and a friend and myself examined gravel in back yard, you could clearly see two ruts about 2-3' deep where the front brakes were locked and two more ruts little deeper where both wheels were spinning, and when truck hit oak tree in back yard, two big places where rear wheels dug gravel and grass about foot long and foot wide spinning against tree. I had the gas pedal about 5" from brake pedal also. I had planned on moving it closer after a few more miles after I realized it was a little far from brake.

I wonder if something shorted out in the pedal module? Or if that's possible.

At this point couldn’t be endless possibilities as to what actually happened, I have never heard of a dbw pedal or throttlebody malfunction on a G.M. product but I’m sure they are out there, only a few years ago Toyota vehicles were having dbw pedal problems. I’m sure somebody with a similar experience may chime in.

I am questioning my driving every day I use to consider myself a good driver after amateur motorcycle and car racing, but the more I drive and park and I get out of the car and go into a store and come out and look at my parking and shake my head thinking damn I can’t even park straight anymore, much less reverse into a parking spot anymore.

Amen to all the above!
When I look at how I angle park, I wonder if I didn't slide into the parking place.
I hope I can find a similar experience that someone else has had. I'm thinking about buying back from insurance company and restore just so I can troubleshoot efi system.
I even asked to be checked to see if I had a light stroke or something. They could find no trace.
Thanks guys,
Ron

I have been swapping LS engines for going on 19 years now, and have been on this site for over 10 years, and this is the first time I have ever heard of a DBW throttle body just going wide open by it's self. Even a Google search didn't bring up anything other than some that had stuck after stabbing the pedal. Not to say it cant happen, but it is going to be a very rare occurrence. If you do rebuild it, and you don't already have them, seatbelts are always a good idea....

Everything I have ever built had seat belts. To build a car without them is asking for it. These happen to have been 3 point good quality that kept me out of everything except steering wheel.
I'm asking for opinions to see if anyone could shed light on what could have happened.
Thanks for your input and opinions.

Its good you had belts, you may have been worse off. I always put them in everything I build too, but I know a lot of people don't. I personally don't like the idea of eating a banjo steering wheel! If I were you, and you really want to try and get opinions, I would start another thread with a different title, one that specifically says ''DBW went WOT by itself'' or something along those lines, that way you get more at your target audience. There may be someone on here that has heard of it, but isn't going to check a thread on a 59 Chevy truck that has some problem. I wish you a speedy recovery and if you rebuild the truck that you don't have any more issues with it.
