Porsche body on C5 drivetrain!!

Are you going to mod the body to cover wheels/tires, or mod the suspension/track to try and fit the body? I guess the 944 body would give you a bit more to work with in that regard. Cool project.
I've had a similar project in the back of my mind. My 242 is LS3 powered. Turns out the C5 Corvette wheel base is 104.5"; the Volvo wheelbase is 104.3". So putting a Volvo "hat" on a C5 rolling chassis came to mind. Engine set back would require firewall to moved back about 6" to clear the motor, but as long as you have to cut unibody to make things fit, what the heck. Similar track width issues as the Volvo is much narrower than the Vette.

On a stock 924/944 the rear spindle centerline is just slightly below the line of the bottom door gap and the front spindle centerline is almost exactly even with the bottom door gap.

Since it was on the 944 FB Page I would have Posted as TC Davis. It was about the Video in cutting the Tunnel for the T56 and I asked why as my LS uses all the Porsche gear except the C7 Bell Housing & Clutch

I love this project, but "why don't you just buy a Corvette ?" LOL I bet you have heard that a few times. Well I'm sure you could but that nothing like what your doing! Using the end to end as you are will really pay off compared to just going with engine + trans + ? . Nice, keep it coming !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This transplant is much harder than one might think, getting things together is just the start, tuning, tweaking things to get it to drive correctly will take some
time. Well worth doing.

This is for Michael and his LS3 Volvo. I like your idea of the Volvo “hat” over a C5 chassis but I suggest a different approach. Get two Volvo’s, with that square body it should be pretty easy slice both down the centerline of the bodies with say a 6 inch offset to give a new total body width of 12 inches wider. Weld the two sides together with a real chassis tying it all together. You could probably run huge wheels and tires yet from the side appear stock. Built low and wide it would be a road course fun car and a head turner.
