Default Porsche body on C5 drivetrain!!

Hey guys! I have an 87 924S, I’ve owned it since 06, worked great up until, 2013, and that’s when I made the decision to make this thing wild! Started gathering parts and now finally have enough parts to get started! I’ll be posting here regularly on big updates, I’m making a series of youtube videos, showing the process of this whole build! So stay tuned if you want to follow this journey with us!

I’m going to start posting pictures now once I figure out how haha

I f you can maintain the 50/50 weight distribution you will have one of the finest handling machines on the planet!

Best wishes on your build!

thanks! Appreciate it! Yeah this car is similar to a C5 because of that, they originally have a transaxle as well and claim the 50/50 distribution

I think those wheels are a tad wide.

What are your plans?

At the present location of the torque tube, are the axle centerlines about where the Porsche ones were, or higher?

yeah, they are only 9.5” wide. Planning on going bigger, the offset might help, but I am going to have to do fender flares or wide body.

I believe they are yes, maybe an inch or two lower than Porsche.

An inch or so isn't too bad. Adjusting suspension height will take care of that.

Yeah, hard to tell with it up in the air and no tires on the wheels. I saw how you don't have much room to move the tube up. Hopefully with height adjustments it will be OK.

Are you going to mod the body to cover wheels/tires, or mod the suspension/track to try and fit the body? I guess the 944 body would give you a bit more to work with in that regard. Cool project.

I've had a similar project in the back of my mind. My 242 is LS3 powered. Turns out the C5 Corvette wheel base is 104.5"; the Volvo wheelbase is 104.3". So putting a Volvo "hat" on a C5 rolling chassis came to mind. Engine set back would require firewall to moved back about 6" to clear the motor, but as long as you have to cut unibody to make things fit, what the heck. Similar track width issues as the Volvo is much narrower than the Vette.
