Just waiting on the firmware update for the 7 and 12 screens to work with X. We have an install here we are waiting on the update so we can use the 7 screen.

Does the 3.5” screen have a useful odometer with trip reset? Old car fuel level gauges never seem to Work reliably So I’ve learned to use trip odometers

No. I suggest you get your old car fuel level working as it should. The 3.5" screen is not programmable, and speed is an optional input.

The 3.5" is a display and has a variety of present screens and functions. The 7" and the 12" dashes are fully programmable to display anything you want, in the manner you want to display it. Gauges can be added, removed, modified, etc... You can change the style of the gauge, the format, color, transparency, ANYTHING! The 7" and the 12" can also be programmed to have virtual switches to turn things on/off. You also have 90% of tuning ability through the 7" and 12" dashes. The 3.5" has limited tuning ability and a laptop is highly recommended to access various advanced parameters.

I understand that, I have all three myself. The 3.5 is limited but you can program to display what you want just not the same as the 7 and 12, That's why I was asking what you meant by not programable. It is but limited.

My assumption was the 3.5" screen was intended to be useful as a display to replace most of the gauges in a car. Is this not the case? I am fully intending to get one of these when i swap my chevelle wagon, but a big part of the justification for me is not needing to buy gauges. I dont want some stupid looking tesla-esque big screen mounted on my dash, i really like the small size of the 3.5" screen.

I don't have direct experience with the 3.5" dash. I would look at the X manual and also look at the 3.5" dash manual to learn about what it can do.

The 3.5 dash can display engine parameters and personalized ( what parameter you want to see) but nothing custom like the 7" or 12" screens.

So if I get the USB adapter cable and buy a Windows based tablet with the Holley software installed, could that be used for a touch screen alternative to the pricey 7" & 12" screens Holley is offering?

I have the Terminator X Max (trans control). Although the 3.5" screen is great for quick changes and use for gauges, a larger tablet would be more ideal to keep an eye on the engine vidals. I don't have the setup installed and I am a few month out from having it running. Just curious if this could be a lower cost way to get it done.

Thanks!!

DD has had this for a while:

I am sure that the Terminator X will be supported very soon. The X uses the same CAN protocol as other Holley systems.

I've been keeping tabs on this thread, but sorry if I missed it. Are the capabilities of the Terminator X base for $995 similar to the Holley HP EFI?
