Over heating
When you block the hole under the thermostat and remove the thermostat, it will force water into the engine constantly. You should see it flowing out of the top of the radiator hose like crazy. This is the coldest setting possible for an LS engine because it can hold the temperature of the engine as low as the inlet water.
For example if you cruise on a lake at 77*F water and use this mod it will hold the engine at 77*F constantly. You can't heat a lake up with a tiny V8.

Hold on a minute. I see no reason for the air to go thru the radiator with an open non-restricted place for the air to come in much easier at the top of the unshrouded shroud.. Why would it ever go thru the radiator. It pulls it all from the HUGE area of the open shroud with so much less resistance. Also there is a gap between rad and condenser. How could any air ever go thru condenser when open at top is less restriction. Heat exchange issues. Physics....air will take the path of least resistance. The fan needs to pull ALL of its air THRU the radiator. In the pics, I dont see how that is a possibility. Also a 160 degree stat is my call. Run em' cool. Seal between condenser at all locations and seal shroud 100%, Shroud size should be same size as radiator.....ALL AIR Thru condenser and then radiator into shroud and then fan can reject the heat. This is a puller fan, correct? Surely.....

I have to agree with John, with the large hole in the top of the fan shroud, most of the air will pass through there and not through the radiator. If you run your fan that far from the radiator using a shroud, it needs to fit well with few holes. It it has holes they should have flaps on the so they only open at highway speed.
