Wasn't the NV3500 a factory option behind the 4.8 in the early 2000s? Why not just get the OEM parts?

The 1999-2000 LR4 4.8L engines built for manual transmission usage were equipped with a longer crankshaft than the engines used for automatic transmission applications.

Do you know who would offer a spacer to make the automatic crank same length as standard?

Look here, this will show you the long and short style. Both were used with NV3500s in OEM applications

You would just want to get the later 2001+ dish flywheel, not use a spacer.

There is some good information in the link to the Novak site regarding clutch contact surface area on the flywheel that warrants reading to keep you from ending up with an inadequate clutch/flywheel combination.

i put a nv3500 behind my 99 4.8 in my 94 k2500.
i used the sachs flywheel nfw1050,
6302vsp43 napa pilot bearing
stock 94 clutch drilled out 3 holes to fit the 10mm bolts
jegs 555-601015 flywheel bolts
arp 134-2203 pressure plate bolts
the stock external slave cylinder from the 94 truck worked fine.

Did you need to put a crank spacer in and was your 4.8 originally automatic of 5 speed?

no crank spacer needed for me. the pilot bearing makes up the difference. i believe it is .400" wider if i remember right.
my 4.8 was originally mated to a 4l60e automatic.

what oil pan is on your motor? I have an nv3500 out of a 94/95 s10 with external slave , and factory 4.8 oil pan wont clear external slave... you have any pics or tips for fittment?

I’m using the stock truck oil pan from the 4wd 99 Sierra. The slave cylinder even clears the low oil sensor in the pan. The slave cylinder I’m using is a 90-91 Chevy truck style because it takes a normal inverted flare line instead of the roll pin setup. So maybe that is shorter than the 94 style slave cylinder.

No problem. Now that I think of it, it might have been a metric bubble flare and not inverted, but either way it’s an easier setup than the roll pin style especially if you have to make your own line.
