Harness question?

I'm currently in the middle of doing my first swap and after doing the standard research I haven't really found a straightforward answer, so I figured I would just ask.
After looking at the lt1 harness info, it seems I would only be removing 21 wires in my rework(http://lt1swap.com/E38%20ECM%20Connector%20Pinouts.htm)
Would it be worth it to remove those wires? Is it possible to just use the harness as is? I have access to the van the swap came out of so I can still grab anything I may or may not need.
Thanks!

Welcome to forum.
I am no expert but removing unwanted wires makes your life easier (less confusion in future as to what goes where) and make the harness looks nicer when you install it. As you can see the stock harness is very bulky and it won't be easy to route around in to what you are working on.

I would remove the wires that you are not using. It’s very simple. The hardest part is getting the grey plastic cover off of the computer connectors. A pick and a small flat screwdriver works well.

When I did mine I was amazed at how few wires it takes to run it and how many I removed. I am sure the removed wires outnumbered the saved wires. Getting the loom off sucked but after that not so bad.

This is a harness I did last month and the vid shows how many wires (large pile) can be removed; Its quite a few. It all depends on how clean you want your harness and another benefit is when or if you have to troubleshoot something you only have to review what is absolutely necessary.

Subscribing as on the fence if I reuse my stock 94 LT1 harness or get a fbody harness. Either way need a OBD2 plug. Atleast I know mine doesn’t have any shorts unlike if you remove one from a junkyard you don’t know the history. But seems kinda complicated...

Reworking a LT1 harness is one of the easiest. Go here and download the spreadsheet find the LT1 tab and it shows what wires are needed for standalone config.
