Default Anyone using a Speedhut tach?

What value pull-up resistor are you using on your Speedhut tach? I have a 10k resistor in there and it worked fine for a while but then it started working intermittently and then eventually quit altogether.

I was able to get the tach to show a reading by feeding it a rectified 12v AC signal so I know the tach still works. Should I try a lower value pull-up resistor? Am I gonna screw up my PCM?

I used a 1000 ohm as described here in PSI Conversions' directions. An OEM 12V VDO tach in mine....working perfectly for 4.5 years now.

I also had trouble with a speedhut tach. I tried 10K as a pull up resistor to start didn't work . Finally sent tach back to speedhut and it came back working.
Had trouble with 3 of the 6 gauge set. Don't think I would use them again.

I was seriously thinking about using Speedhut gauges for my LS swap, Fox coupe project. Hmmm. Now I'm not so sure.

I’m happy with my Speedhut gauges, and you’re not gonna find custom colors and faces anywhere at this price point.

The tach is the only thing giving me issues, they just replied with this:
I will be happy to help you with your issue. If you are concerned about getting the signal from the PCM with the pull-up resistor, I would recommend getting the signal from a trigger wire off one of your coil packs instead. You would not need a pull-up resistor if you go this route.
Thanks,
Ammon
Maybe I should have just done it this way in the first place, but I like wiring everything up as if it was all OEM. I like the fit and function of everything to appear stock. I even went out of my way to make my dash look factory. So far only one person has ever noticed my dash isn’t stock.

Thanks for giving us your experience with the Speedhut gauges and for posting the picture, Sacrilege. I really do like how a buyer can completely customize the gauges and the fact that they are made in the USA.

I've used one for a while, the resistor as above was easy and worked no problem.
