Hello all, Wanted to introduce myself and a build I am working on, a 96 Roadmaster Estate Wagon getting a 6.0 LQ9 out of an Escalade.
In its current form. A great driver but sluggish.
New Motor/Trans
Discovered where the rats were living
Looks like the engine was outside for a minute
Pitted Cam
Cylinders look good though
I plan on slowly cleaning it up and doing a sloppy stage two, springs, and maybe a turbo. This is just a fun car to give myself a little challenge on something I haven’t done before.
Great build! Worked on these babies when they were new. Some large sway bars (Impala SS) front and rear help alot. I believe the Impala SS steering box is also a quicker ratio. May as well handle better with that new found power coming soon, lol.
Pulled the Cam to get throw in a SS2 cam. Old one has good amount of pitting
With that amount of damage to the cam, I'd inspect the main and rod bearings for damage; that metal had to go somewhere, and the filter can't catch everything.
But whatever you do, don't look at the cam bearings! (Just kidding - check them, too.)

No good can ever come from looking at the cam bearings.
Made a little progress with getting out old broken manifold bolts. I screwed around with an extractor for about an hour before I did what I should have from the beginning and pulled out the welder.
Finally thawed out enough to get some more work done on the car. Engine pulled and ready to start depinning the factory harness. A Holley Terminator X Max is going to control the Engine and Trans. I just need enough of the old harness for ABS, Lights, Wipers, etc...
