I have someone else tearing down the motor as I'm now out of town with work but I still want things moving forward.

I can't lie, it's out of the realm of my experience, so I'm definitely open to others opinions.
Since it's out of my experience, it's part of the reason I went with someone else to provide a motor/trans combo... even that doesn't seem to matter for me unfortunately.
"Rod bearings look good & same with the rod throws on the crank.
The crank bearings are done and so are the surfaces on the crank.
So you need 2 pistons and your choice of a different crank or get this one ground. I would rebearing the whole engine and I would strongly consider replacing all the pistons."
Was the information given to me today. I have access to a spare parts motor that I'm likely going to get the motor back together so my cost and downtime is limited. Plan for something different over winter likely.
Bad gas? Possible I guess. Whatever it was, I hope it's behind me now.

Sorry to hear about the motor woes. It sounds like you have a solid plan in place to get back up and running to save on downtime and money. If/when you start thinking of a different route over the winter check out our Pro LS line. We've had some great feedback on our rotating components and assemblies. The Pro LS line of camshafts has been a hit since we launched them in July of 2018.
