2002 Camaro. v6 to 6.0 swap. Help me out here, Done a different way to work!
I have have spent hours researching this. Yes I know I can just find a V8 car and go from there. I got a 2002 v6 camaro in great shape for nothing. So Its all I got.
I have read a donor car would be best due to the ls1 wiring and other stuff I need off it.. Without a donor car this will be a very expensive swap.I dont have a donor nor will buy one.
Here is my idea and never read anything like this online about a v6 to v8 swap. I dont see why it wont work but its best to ask the LS pro's here on the site. Tell me what you think
1. As far as the wiring harness I have no donor so why not pick one up from PSI. I have bought from them many times for swaps. Great company.
2. Since I have no LS1 harness the gauges im sure wont work. No Problem, I'll use a custom made plate with all the Autometer gauges I neeed .
I think 1 and 2 would have been the hardest part of the swap, but If I can run a PSI harness and just delete factory stuff (wiring)(gauges) I should be good Right?
I know I would need a V8 k member and trans mount, but would buy all UMI stuff for the conversion including V8 rack and pinion, v8 struts and so on.
Please let me know your thoughts, tip's, tricks, ect!! thanks. I will post pic of everything if this swap will work. Like I said, I think question 1 and 2 should not be a problem and make the swap easy.
This is my first 4th gen Camaro Thanks everyone

I mean, you can't go wrong with PSI, and I bet if you called them and talked through your project they would have some good answers for you for sure. You could even go with a LT swap and use the new Gen V engine.

You covered most of it already and I'll just add that the alternator, starter, A/C compressor will not work on the V8 and neither will the transmission. Not sure if your V6 car is drive by wire or drive by cable but that will also have to be adressed if it is a drive by wire setup. If you're looking to keep the creature comforts you will need to obtain the A/C compressor bracket and the power steering pump, reservoir, coolant crossover and power steering pump bracket from a V8 car. I would also advise on getting a 411 ECU and a radiator for a 4th Gen V8 car. You can use the car harness but you have to run a wire from the INJ2 on the fuse box to one of the connectors that connects the engine harness to the ECU. I have attached a link that goes into more detail about this along with my 99 Camaro build a/k/a/ TUFFENUF build thread.

to use a stand alone PSI harness. And just use autometer gauges. I just want to make sure this works and Im not missing something here that I dont know about. Thanks again

Not sure as those were on the LT platform but I'm certain you can put an LS engine in the car with an aftermaket ECU and aftermarket gauges.
