Default 2005 Lq9 68 gto oil pan recomendations please...

hi guys...
continuing my 68 gto lq9 swap
well... I need to change the lq9's crankcase. I saw some cheap options on ebay 180$ to 250$ oil pans 302-1 and 302-2 unbranded kit. my budget is tight. I would like opinions on these cheap brands, anyone using them? I refuse to pay half the value of the engine just for a holley pan, I just don't think the holley price for an oil pan is fair

I’m not sure which pan you need but I’ve seen several people use cheaper/knock off pans with success. Also try rock auto .com. They might have a Doorman branded one at a fair $

I have an off-brand 302-2 in my 68 Camaro. Clearances seem to be the same as the Holley, an F-Body pan will not fit but this one does.

Only issue I had was I had to bend the pickup tube in the front to get the pan to sit flush. The front of the 302-2 pan is so shallow there is not much room for the pickup tube to run. It was worth it at half the cost.

The one I bought was a blem/return, so it was a one-off.

This is a listing for the same brand that I bought (LOSTAR or Lone Star). I liked that they were located in the US.

Wow. Look at that cheap price. I think I paid like 357 or so maybe a little more from a big name GM supplier

Curious as to why the fbody pan didn't work? Fbody pan should easily fit in a 68-72 F/X body as I put one in a 69 Nova with no issues.

Although similar, none of the knockoff 302-x pans I've seen will have as much clearance as the Holley (look closely and you will see the difference). I know people that have had to grind on their knockoffs, and if you compare where they had to grind to a real Holley, it would most likely fit without grinding. That, plus what motor mounts you use will make a difference too.

I’ve seen some Fbody pans having a notch for what I assume would be for tie rod s

The FBody pan would need to be notched. Either the steering linkage or the crossmember is in the way. I believe it was the steering linkage, since that's mounted to the rear of the crossmember.

I used the Holley Blackheart swap mounts, designed to fit with the 302-2 pan
