Are getting the Holley swap kit or piecing it together? If it’s the later, I’d recommend looking at Speed Engineering for headers.
when do you plan on starting?

Yeah basically the Holley kit. Using Holley trans mount and Trans dapt motor mount kit since Holley was out of stock. Speedway headers and Holley in tank fuel pump module. I'm going to be smoothing the firewall and cleaning up the engine compartment first. Also doing a full car rewire and disc brake kit.

Do yourself a favor and get wait for the Holley engine mounts and buy the 302-2 or -3 oil pan. You won't have to cut the trans tunnel with those engine mounts other than for the shifter. Otherwise you'll need to cut and raise the trans tunnel to fit the large transmission with the mounts you currently have. Then do as Jimbo suggested and buy a set of 1 7/8" Speed Engineering headers. They fit really well with the Holley mounts other than some slight massaging to fit the steering box. Which unfortunately is very common with installing almost any header.

Not sure which Trans Dapt mounts you are running, but the Holley 12618HKR mounts come with a plate that bolts to the stock subframe to allow you to bolt up a later style clamshell mount.

I never knew Trans Dapt made kits like that. I always thought they only made swap plates. They look pretty good too

Be aware, the Hooker Blackheart mounting system those were directly copied off of are not shipped with the rubber aftermarket clamshells due to the fact that they have proven to come apart very quickly. I would recommend substituting them for a set of poly mounts and thicker gauge clamshells to mount them in.

The plates that mount to your subframe, check to make sure the holes that are supposed to be tapped, are tapped. Mine came drilled, but not tapped. No issue for most people doing this job, but it's a pain if you already installed them and trying to figure out why the stupid bolt won't start.

Wow, that is a direct copy of Holley! Toddoky, how do companies get away with that?
1964SS, I would have done the same thing in your shoes to keep forward process. Hopefully you aren't offended, I'm just shocked how that is a direct copy.

They get away with it because they can if a product is not patent protected. They’re not the first competitor copying the oil pans, mounts, crossmembers, headers and exhaust systems I’ve designed for Holley over the last decade and they won’t be the last. I’m annoyed and flattered at the same time and grateful that I don’t have to show up to work everyday to merely copy other people’s stuff. There’s nothing to be learned from that which allows you to improve your methods and products over time.

awesome build!
Best of luck with the build. Your friend will love it when it is complete. I also have an LS2/T56 1968 build and it is an amazing ride. I look forward to any pictures and updates you put here!
