Default 2000 5.3 oil pressure sensor in 1990 K5 Blazer

All, I’ve tried researching this but can’t find anything concrete. I swapped a
2000 5.3 into a 1990 K5 blazer. The oil pressure sensor plug from the K5 blazer is identical to the one on the 5.3. I put a new sensor specific to the 5.3 on the motor. Question is both original sensor and the LS sensor the same OHM range? Will the sensor work with the stock gauge?

Um, I don’t want to start it if I can’t monitor oil pressure.

If you're not sure the engine is going to make pressure you use a mechanical gauge the first start.
If it is a known good engine and will make pressure, you will also know if the gauge is good on the first start.

I would be shocked if the 5.3 sensor would work with the 1990 gauge.
Mechanical or electric gauge plugged into the 5.3 would tell the tale. You buy a cheap Equis? gauge at any parts store.

No, it won't be compatible at all. Knock the guts out of the LS sensor and tap it for 1/8" NPT, or just buy the $5 dollar adapter bushing to use the OG Blazer sensor.

Just FYI, I broke out my handy dandy pump
sprayer/priming thing and pumped the motor up with oil. It does work, 30 psi on the sprayer and gauge. Thanks for all the information above, it was very helpful.

FWIW I've used the Factory LS Gauge on a 3rd Gen Camaro and it worked fine, so I believe the K5 should work fine too with the factory LS Gauge.

You can get various adapter ports on the little bypass plate by the oil filter. I run 3 sensors on my 92 Corvette: OEM LS2, OEM C4 LT1, and LT1 oil temp sender.
