Question LS6 with classic intake manifold ?

Hi,

my Cobra likes the classic look, would go for a carburator look. Means, I want the elect. Throttle on top, not in front and the classic Cobra oval air cleaner on top.

https://www.summitracing.com/parts/lss-gmls3005
does this kit fit the original injectors, plug & play?
Should this be the answer? are there others around?

THX

From Summit's web site. (LS Classic Series classic intake manifold kits are designed to pay respect to the classic muscle cars and trucks of the 1950's, 60's, and 70's while using modern technology for ultimate performance. The intake kits include a single-plane aluminum intake manifold, black anodized billet aluminum fuel rails, a vintage air cleaner assembly, 4150 carb adapter plate, all mounting hardware, and gaskets. These systems require a 92mm GM four-bolt throttle body and LS3/EV6 or LS1/EV1 fuel injectors. They are compatible with GM and aftermarket engine control units and harnesses that support both drive-by-wire and speed density tuning. LS Classic Series classic intake manifolds are available to work with rectangular or cathedral port LS cylinder heads. Order the classic intake manifold kit suited to fit your application.)

If you really want the classic look why not go with FITech , Holley, Edelbrock system. No fuel rails to look at?

Because MPI is better than TBI

Reads like the two Holley systems are about equal.

The article made me wonder if the Holley MPI system is poorly designed. Shouldn't the Holley MPI fuel injector be spraying the hot intake valve like in the stock GM LS style fuel injection for better atomization instead of the flange?

Not bashing just asking.

A TPI system is closer related to a carb setup which will atomize better. This setup will almost always provide better torque numbers as this article states. Maybe not peak hp numbers though
99 Black Bird , I think the Holley MPI does use separate injectors for each intake port at the end of each runner.
In my post to the OP I was merely saying if he wanted the look of Carb, why not go TBI and not have fuel rails showing? Just a thought

Definitely agree with you regarding OP's application. Look nicer and have fatter torque curve!

Thanks for the tag @Pro Stock John.

OP, for that "carb look" we would go with a throttle body fuel injection system. You can get them from bare-bones throttle body and ECU all the way up to complete kits with basically everything needed to get the system installed. There are quite a few intake manifold options to get these throttle body units mounted atop an LS. This way you could easily mount an air cleaner to the throttle body and not have any fuel rails sticking up out of the intake. Thus giving you that clean old-school-cool carb look

Which system would the OP choose to control fueling and ignition so he wouldn't need to use the factory pcm ? I suppose it also depends on what trans is in the Cobra

@jetech,

The Holley Terminator or retro LS EFI from Fitech are examples of throttle body injection systems that can control LS timing and a 4l60E or 4L80E auto trans. If a trans controller isn't needed there is the Holley Terminator X Stealth system.

I recall seeing a manifold at a show that put the injectors on the bottom side and used a 4 barrel throttle body on top, they also had a dual quad one.
I wish I could remember the brand, it was not cheap but it was very very pretty.. All Polished and the dual quad used a oval air filter..

Or go total badass and talk to Kinsler an 8 stack injection sounds too cool..

LS3Whipple, saw this video and thought about your project. It's a long video but worth skimming through. The TBI fuel injection out powered the well tuned carb pretty easily by several hp. TBI injection is pretty impressive!

I would never use a TBI on a LS. Use a single plane with injectors and a 4 barrel throttle body and run the whole thing with a Holley Terminator X.

I think it's hard to say never when the outcome for the vehicle is looks over performance
