Holley Mid mount kit Alternatives
#41
Looks like most of the alternate parts have been covered, although I would like to add the thermostat housing and water pump are from the LT engines and the AC compressor I used is a Sanden 7176 SD7B10.

I think most had it. Mine had factory ac at some point but one of the previous owners took it out and disconnected the heater core for some reason. (Because race car?) I'll be putting Vintage Air in it at some point. It's a little warm in it during the summer even in Wisconsin and I'm too fat to get hot🤣.
The Vettefacts website has all of the info about production numbers for options. (Plus info about changes during the model years.)

I had troubles ordering the Level 7 alt. So I ended up going with Power Masters version and the Motion Raceworks 3" pulley. I still have the Holley alt, sitting on my shelf, brand new never used. Not going down that road,...thanks in advance to this thread. The PowerMaster alt has the grounding lug and same mounting as the Holley. I believe its where Level 7 sources theirs from n they just add a 3" pulley.

Here's what I found on this. There's 4 models with very similar model numbers. They are a mix of serpentine vs v belt and 1 vs 3 wire. There's also a variety of pulley sizes.
854009 has the ground lug and looks like a larger pulley. It's a 3 wire, however. Anyone know if that will work w/ the Terminator?
Holley has this harness that allows for use of late model 3 wire Pulse Width Modulated alternators. Do I need one of these. I'm lost, thanks for any help.https://www.holley.com/products/fuel.../parts/558-475

I got most of my accessories together. Used alternator off a chevy truck, a/c compressor from rock auto. Just waiting for my p/steering pulley to mount it to my pump.
The intake won't fit sadly so I need to find a different lower profile one. Hits the hood.

So I have almost fully completed my kit.
Keep in mind Prices are in Canadian and I'm very remote area so it's hard to source alot of stuff.
Holley accessory manifold - $562
Holley crank pulley - $454
Holley water pump -$159
Jeep tensioner - $51
GM alternator - $0
Sanden sd7 a/c compressor - $208
Unisteer gm type 2 p/steering pump - $100
Holley bolt kit - $56
GM p/s pulley - $17 + $30 shipping 😭
Mr gasket Swivel thermostat housing and thermostat - $0
Im missing a belt, the fittings and caps for the manifold, and a fitting or 2 for the power steering pump.
But so far, total spent = $1637 Canadian.
Price of the Holley kit complete - $3900
So I saved $2000. Screw you Holley but thank you as well. Love the manifold.

I just got off the line w/ techs at PowerMaster. He advised me a few things
I'm going to try to do this on my own b/c that Level 7 price tag is bonkers. The part number that @rkupon1 used is in fact the one to go with: 854009-1. And since he had success w/ the Motion Raceworks pulley I will go with that as well.
Cheers
- All alternators are running the ground lugs now. Images are simply behind on being updated.
- Get a 1 wire alternator with the Holley Terminator EFI. The 3 wire pigtail shouldnt be used on his units. It could short it out.
- The case from Holley has specific dimensions to align the pulley. His is not compatible. He suggested Turn5 is the only company to address this. I asked if me meant Level7 and he wasn't sure.

Wondering if this would work
Hey was wondering if anyone had any info on this setup I asked summit racing and they said besides the pulley it’s the same as the powermaster street alternators 854009-1 but still would like some input lol

Holley has a cheaper cost mid mount setup that’s a copy of the 98-02 f-body FEAD.

I bought one of these mid mount kits a few years ago. I haven’t noticed issues with the alternator (though I uograded the power steering pump as it was too weak for my hydroboost brakes)
The Sanden AC seems pretty weak and I’m thinking about replacing it. Has anyone upgraded the compressors on one of these? Any suggestions?
