Default Lq9

Evening everyone I just picked up a 2005 C6 at auction with a blown engine….. my question is can I run an lq9 block, still use my ecu so I can pass obd2 inspection? If I can what would be needed to make this swap work in my c6… Thanks in advance for any info

You mean sub the LQ9 block ONLY for the LS2 block?

I would look for an aluminum Gen IV 6.0 truck block. Likely more common than LS2 blocks, though they are still around, just not as common.

The ECU has not a single clue which BLOCK an engine is built around. Think about it.....

You can use any LS style block (iron or aluminum), aftermarket or GM, from 1997-whenever...... and absolutely nothing will change in your ECU or Emmissions. Only going Gen3 to Gen4 has a couple extremely simple sensor changes like CAM and Knock sensors, they sell a cheap wiring harness for that issue, which is what I bought for my new engine.

My local builder is about to assemble an all new 370ci with forged rods and pistons for boost if you're in the market.

So that Corvette PCM is 58x Gen IV stuff, keep that in mind.

Block wise, yea they are the same just where the sensors are and some have the DOD stuff where others don't.

Yea flate plate on the valley would work if you are bolting the LS2 ones to the side.

I have a Norris PCV Catch Can, it works good.
