Default E67 OS reflashing

not sure if this is the correct area for this post, I have a E67 ECU flashed for a i5 engine, a company offers a service to send in my ECU and harness to convert it to a V8, I imagine this isn't a scam. Is something like this really that "simple"?

With the right equipment and stock tune file access it is that simple. The E67 is obviously going to have to match hardware number wise to the OS you wish to install. I have a brand new GM E67 for a 2009 Trailblazer SS in the box for a swap I am working on. It actually lists to fit numerous 4-, 6- and 8-cylinder engines in the 2008 and 2009 model year. The E67s hardware number is specific to those applications and thus the flash has to match for compatibility reasons. Trying to flash an incompatible operating system into a control module is a quick way to brick it.

Interesting, well it should just be getting flashed to run for a V8 configuration of the same model year and everything, so I can't imagine that'd be a issue, do you think programming a 07 6l80e into a 09 E67 would be a issue, if you know anything about that at all? These models were never made to run 6l80es but from what I think I've heard I don't think it'll be a issue with my years

The 6 Speed has its own TCU. They E67 ECU will work with a 6 speed. There are multiple running these types of combo's.

Sounds good, the guy I talked to who sells the conversion kit said there could be some OS incompatibilities with early year E67s and later year 6l80es but maybe I'm misremembering

There can be. Likely Need to use an early 6L80 OS with the Trailblazer OS. Preferable the same year with each.

There is no auto or manual or V6 or V8 ECM. Its all the same ECM just flashed differently. The service number on back of the ECM dictates what OS can be flashed into that ECM. When changing an ECM from manual to auto or V6 to V8 it needs to be done with GM factory software (techline) or some kind of program that is flashing the whole bin file. You cant not do this with hp tuners. We buy ecm's in bulk and flash them to whatever the customer needs.
