Default 69 Camaro Project Update

Attached are a few pictures on the progress of my project. I "finally" got the car rolling with the completion of the drivetrain. I've taken a lot of extra time to completely clean (to the metal) the bottom floor pan, interior, under the dash and trunk area. I have a very solid no rust body and want to keep it that way. I used Zero Rust (spray) on the bottom and Silver POR-15 (brushed)on the rest of the car. I also used black POR-15 on the insides of the rear tubs after cleaning down to bare metal.

Now I'm beginning to see some progress as I'm finally starting the "reassembly" instead of continuing the "teardown" phase of the project. There might be hope that I'll actually finish the project someday. I started in earnest one year ago this month after leaving it at a shop for one year that was going to install custom subframe, C4 front and rear suspension...they never started on the car so I picked it up and I'm doing all the work myself....Life teaches you hard lessons sometimes!

I purchased the intake tube/air filters off ebay and it's for a Corvette application. I haven't installed the MAF unit yet so I'm hoping it will clear radiator/etc. when the time comes. Check out "67 Bird" posts as he has pictures that are posted today of the same intake. The 6-speed console is out of a 2000 Trans Am (fit perfect with some custom brackets) and I'm in the process of building brackets for the seats which are out of a 2002 Hyundia Tiberon. I really like these seats because they are two toned leather (Gray/Black which match the steering wheel) and they have lots of lateral side support. I paid $200 for the front and rear seats a little over a year ago off ebay. I also am building custom door panels from a late model Mercedes SKS that has carbon fiber inserts and are gray and black leather. I want to modernize the interior of the 69 as much as possible. I can't stand the looks of a flat door panel....needs to be sculptered with different shapes and colors.

Real nice man, only thing I don't like is the APC steering wheel, Car would be much cooler with a nice lecarra or grant wheel imo. But overall very nice job and good work.

Thanks for comments.....I'm looking forward to seeing your A/C compressor hooked up with the S&P brackets. I've thought long and hard about that part of the installation and I think you hit a home run with your idea. Please make sure you post some pictures of it when it's mounted on your 67 Bird.

Just for the fun of it, I'll post a couple of pictures of my Pro-Touring 55 Chevy that I have built over the last 8 years. As soon as I finish the 69 LS1 install and it get it running, I want to install a LS1 drivetrain in the 55. I installed a 96 Corvette independent rear suspension a couple of years ago so the 55 needs the rest of the modern drivetrain. Projects never cease to be complete!!!!

In reference to your photo of the interior, is that the shifter location for an unmodified T56 transmission?

Thank you

Yes, the shifter is in the stock location. Seems to be just right for me!
