reluctor wheel is the big sprocket looking thing that is on the cam. It tells the motor where it is in order to fire the coils.

Yeah it's 13 or 17 not sure. If you are doing a swap into a truck you need a 40 tooth reluctor for the factory ABS to work right if you are into retaining it if you have it. Jags that Run make such a piece.

40 tooth reluctor wheel and pick-up are available from J.T.R(jags that run). About $170.00 I think. Their wheel bolts between propshaft flange and pinion flange(sandwiched between the 2) and saves taking `box apart.

Nope wrong part the one I'm talking about is the reluctor that replaces the one in the transmission. The part number is like T56-002 or something like that. It only costs like $75. Anyways, he isn't using it for the speedo, just the PCM 's sake so he doesn't need anything like that.

the trans uses a reluctor wheel as well. at least from my understanding. a reluctor wheel is for anything that uses a magnetic pick up to keep track of rotating objects. the teeth disrupt the magnetic field. the cam and crank both use one as well. my speedo pick up is gear driven so it produces a voltage rather than just a pulse. so I can't use that. I have been told that having speed input to the PCM improves performance. I also need to figure at what point the pick up is located at. I am assuming on the output shaft of the trans.
