Default Has NE1 swapped out an LS1/6 into an '99+ Astro/Safari Van??

Strange question i know, but I was thinking about doing this mainly for the towing capacity....plus a little extra pep never hurt.

There's a guy who goes by LS1astro. It's an older van though.

Thanks! I'll do a search and see if i can find him.

On a side note: I found a few shops that specialize in engine swaps for Astro vans, but according to thier websites they only do the older style Astros. I guess i could call them and verify.

HAHAHA< thats freaking sweet. i wish that was my daily beater. as far as the astro swap, youre in for some work just getting the motor out, if its older its not too bad, but newer ones you have to pull everything, tranny, engine front suspension, brakes front sub frame everything together. if you dont have a lift it would be nearly impossible

Keep in mind that i'm looking at doing this to a 1999 Astro Van. I also know the whole thing has to come out(Engine/tranny/front-suspension) to do any engine swap. My question to the forum is can it be done with little to no modifcations to the rest of the car?

yes, the astro swap is about the easiest of the s10 type swaps. getting the motor out is simple, just drop the subframe with wheels and everything still attatched. its very easy if you have alift, but if not, a little trickier. actually getting the old motor out is probably the easiest part of the whole swap/ but once you do, you will have plenty of room for the new motor, little or no exhaust clearance problems etc... post pics!
