Default Motor Mounts

I know I have seen it on here, a picture of the plates w/measurements needed to put early style motor mounts on these GenIII engines. For the life of me I cannot find it. Any one now the dimensions off hand?

The wrong hole is marked for countersinking the hole on the first mount, it should be the one just to the left of it. The guy that made the drawing didnt change it before he posted the pic. I am not sure about the other one (square one).

Default Motor mount diagrams

I'm new at this new gen motor stuff. What's the diff with the two motor mount plates? Is one the driver's side? If so which one is the driver's side.

You use one or the other and just make two of them. The reason that there are two drawings is that one positions the motor forward of the other by 1 3/4". Which one you use depends on where you want the motor to sit. The odd shaped one is what the S&P mount looks like. The rectangular one is what I used on my car to move the motor forward and make the tranny mount and shifter line up better.

(I thought that I had fixed the drawing so that the correct one was labeled as countersunk. I think you have an old version.)

when making the s&p style ones, do you counter sink them on opposite sides, or make them both the same, so one faces forward and one back?

You countersink them on opposite sides. The reason for the countersink is that the hole is directly under the SBC motor mount so it needs to be flush with the surface of the plate so that the mount can sit flat.
When everything's bolted down, it should look something like this:

I just tried to use the s&p style mounts on my motor yesterday, the passenger side hits my a/c compressor on my camaro motor. Its not that big of deal to me, I am just going to move some things around a bit, but I thought others would like to know.

how far did the S&P style mounts set the engine back. i.e. how far did you have to move the trans crossmember back?

Did the S&P mounts fit? I remember reading somewhere on this site that someone tried S&P mounts and the holes were about 1/4in. off. I'm thinking of trying to make my own to be sure the fit is good.

I turned the crossmember around backwards and moved it back about 4 inches from the original location. This is with the driver's side motor mount in the stock location on the frame.
