Default RX7/LS1 first drive experiences. VIDEO!

Videos:

All driving was done on a closed, private taxiway, NOT on the street. Sorry for the video quality, they were taken with a still camera with a video mode, more for the sound.

Pic of engine bay (huge):

Wow. What a car... With a 100% stock LS1 this thing will easily pull at 400hp H/C hawk, and would give a 460rwhp ATI formula a run for its money. Before you laugh, 340hp/2600lbs ~= 460/3600-3800

The car probably weighs 2550-2600lbs right now, as it has no interior, no exhaust cept headers and 1-2 feet of pipe for O2 sensors, no front sway bar, stereo, passenger seat, 1.5 gallons of gas, etc...

Only using 1/2 throttle and babying the 1-2 shift (I have a brand new RAM VDS), the tires broke loose going into second.

Even without the front sway bar and both shock tower braces off, the car feels more solid than a camaro, even with SFCs. Cant wait to see how the thing handles with a coilover setup, a cage, and all the tranny bracing, stbs, etc...

Unfortunately, I had 2 knee surgeries yesterday (they fucked up the first one and had to go back in) and should be out at least 2 months from working on the car, which means that it sits at my parents house untouched

At least I got to drive it once :3gears:

Nice! Congrats. Sorry to hear about the surgery.

Another swap "done". Now you just have to finish those stupid details that take forever to do. (Why should I finish the interior when I can just drive it how it is?)

Nice to here that you got it up and running. I was able to take my ls1 RX7 out yesterday, this is the 1st time to drive my RX7 since the dyno run on Monday. 428rwhp is alot of fun in a FD.

Are you going to put the LT headers on?

Mike

Im gonna try and get it smogged first I think. Im 21, and 340rwhp is WAY too much for me as it is...

In time I will though, I am just a way better mechanic than I am driver, so I need to be safe first before adding stupid crazy power...

What kind of traction you seeing mike? What rear tires are you running?

how do the headers sound over the shortees?

On the street traction is ok from a 1st gear roll. At the track I just take it easy in 1st.
I am using 255 bfg drag radials.

The Lt headers sound the same as the shortie edelbrock headers.
