Lightbulb 93 Rx7 sick of Rotaries

I was a General Motors Drive-ability tech for 20 years and can't stand the rotary engine any longer. I miss the feel, sound and power of a true HP engine, not one that you have to wind up all day just to drive around town. Not to mention the gas mileage. Most modded rotaries get 12 miles per gallon or there abouts. I am not saying the rotary is a bad choice its just not my first choice.
I own a 93 twin turbo Rx7 and want to join the LS1 family. I am in the process of deciding what to do. The Rx7 swap or a 240Z LS1. Any help on deciding would be greatly appreciated.

It's www.hinsonsupercars.com and the quality of their products are very good. I'm working on my 93 RX7/LS1 swap right now as well. As mentioned, the V8/RX7 section of Torquecentral.com is a fantastic source of info. I wouldn't be trying this swap if TC wasn't there.

You will fall in love the car all over again. Give us a call or email with any questions. We would be happy to take care of you.

Thanks for all the kind words guys. It is good to see some of you already on the road.

Below is a picture of the engine in our shop car. We will take it to Hot Rod Magazine's Pump Gas Drags this year.

dang that's pretty!! I can't see how it fit's though with a twin turbo. I love the 93-95 rx-7's I think they are one of the best looking car's out there even after 10 years.
I say go for it and give me a ride ;P

For sure the way to go.

If you've never been CHASED down by groups of people before, this car does it

I had a Fordza Engineer follow me for 3 miles to check out the car, just came back from Hiroshima doing a stint at Mazda.

Its an awesome package.

what is up with the mounting of the intake manifold backwords?? I am assuming its only for fi applications but what other modifications (besides fitting it in) need to be done? I figure it would work either way, but i was just curious?

And i would say the rx7 because it looks better...Although it may be a tougher swap, I am not sure?

If you look closer you will see that it appears that the compressor side (Turbo) tubing dissappears into the firewall. As such I would surmise that he is running some type of liquid to air intercooler in the rear or passenger side of the car. As such when the tubing comes back out to the engine bay it is easier to run a straighter shot into the intake by reversing it. Just my .02 worth. Cheers !!!

Jim C.

PS- Good luck to ya'll at the Pump Gas Drags. Hope ya do well.

Yea ive seen it before where the tubing goes through the firewall and into the car and then back, but I was wondering if there was any modifications to the motor or intake that need to be done in order to reverse the intake manifold. I am assuming no because its symmetrical but I dont know.
