Default PCM mounting

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to securely mount the PCM in the engine area? Anyone have a pic of the stock mounting setup?

Thanks
Ben

Mine is located on the top of the trans tunnel just ahead of the center console and below the dash.. same as where they did it in the Year One 69 Camaro.

I'm putting mine in the engine bay, not in the cabin.
The problem is that the PCM doesn't mounting tabs; it has a couple grooves on the bottom. I'm assuming this is how the PCM mounts in an Fbody. Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks.

the Fbody has a plastic "case".... or sleave.. whatever you want to call it.

this "case" is mounted to the car... and the PCM just slips into it... and locks in place with little tabs...

You can kind of see the black "sleeve" in the pic below. I cut off what I didn't need of it with a Dremel and mounted it to the dash with a few standoffs that I got at Radio Shack. The zip tie holds the clips closed because it liked to come loose.

Here's a hi-res version of the same pic

The Rat Shack standoffs are a great idea, that one's on my to-do list now!

We use the pcm mount from the S-10 trucks they work great and mount flat on the firewall and provide mounting tabs.

I also used an s10 mount on my lemans,in fact I worked on it yesterday. I made a close out panel to go beside the battery box. There is so much room in the inside of the fender that in can mount my PCM and TAC module. I also mounted the fuel pump relay on that panel. with the battery in all of that stuff is hidden. jim

Anyone know if the PCM has to be electrically isolated from the chassis?

Thanks

Okay, I'm convinced. What's the part number for the S10 pcm mount?

I made a slide-in mount with a retainer at the top....I don't have room outside so I had to put it on the right kick panel. Old cars had tall but narrow engine bays.

no, the case itself is grounded internally.

Question Same PCM bracket for LT1

Will this PCM bracket work to hold the PCM for my 94 LT1 engine as well? I have room in the engine bay of my 240Z, I'm just looking for a nice way to mount it.

BTW - What would be the best orientation, or does it make a difference? I'm thinking that if the mount allows easy installation and removal I would mount the PCM such that the connectors are on the bottom.

The S-10 mount will not work if you have a 98 PCM, but if you have a newer one the S-10 mount looks great
