Smile 240z Lt1/t56

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to introduce myself and my car. I have a 1973 240Z that I'm restoring/modifying including an LT1/T56 from a 1994 Chevrolet Z28. I just got the engine started for the first time last Sunday, and she seems to be running fine. You can check out my web site at www.570z.com to get more details. I've got most of my information so far from www.hybridz.org and they've been a great help.

Right now my PCM is just sitting in my engine compartment, and I need to find a way to mount it permanently. Will the LT1 PCM be able to withstand the heat in my engine compartment? Should I use some type of heat shielding?

Yes, I've seen his site and his video is very popular with the HybridZ gang. The last I heard he was going to switch to an LS1.

Thanks for all the positive comments and the information about the PCM.

if you need any help, just ask.
I've got a 396 LT1 in my 240sx and have done quite a few into 240z's and 280z's.

Aries,
I'm doing an LT1 into my 240Z as well, have you ever been to the Hybridz.org website? You should drop by some time if you haven't.
Could you post some pictures of the 240sx engine bay. I'm curious to see how the LT1 fit in there. How does it affect the handling of the car? Did you use an Auto or a Manual transmission?

Bartman,
This is Wheelman from Hybridz. Nice to see you here and congrats on getting it running.
I mounted my PCM on top of the passenger side frame rail right in front of the shock tower. I can take a picture and post it either here or on Hybridz if you'd like.
I was going to mount it in the passenger footwell but decided against it after some test fits that just didn't work. I also didn't want to pass all those wires through the firewall.

Hey ZcarGuy/Wheelman,
I mounted my PCM this last weekend using the bracket made for a 94 Z28 and I think it works great. Here's a couple of pic's:

Thumbs up

240Z's are fun little cars. I've owned two of them over the years.

Car turned out great with the LT1 in there.
