Dimensional differences between LSx oil pans?

Anybody got anything else? I've looked for CTS-V stuff, but have been entirely unsucessful. Would like to know what that pan looks like (and the dimensions that go with it).
If not, is it time to cherry-pick the important stuff out of this and post in a FAQ / sticky thread?

Anyone know why the shipping from gmparts direct is 39.92$ on the c6 pan and 28.06$ on the fbody pan? Not complaining about a few dollars just really curious.
Some of you have said the c6 oil pan #12581810 is 'kit'.
Whats in the kit other than the oil pan? do I still have to buy the windage tray seperate? etc.

Don't forget the pan on the new impala ss that has the 5.3 in it. I think it's going into one of the Pontiacs also.
It'll bolt to all Ls1 engines, but I have no idea what it (the pan) looks like.
Could be useful in someone's swap.

What does the windage tray prevent ?
aeration of oil due to air movement produced by crank ?
I have corvette `winged` oil pan without windage tray can anyone advise of any likely longterm problems.

The windage tray is predominately designed to keep the oil in the bottom of the pan from being whipped into a frenzy by the crankshaft spinning above it (imagine a chef with a whisk beating egg whites). Aeration is part of it, but not the whole, it is also there to try and keep the crank "dry". What I mean by that is the crank has oil in it and spraying off of it (through main journal & rod journal clearances), but the tray is trying to keep the oil spraying off from hitting the liquid in the bottom & splashing back up on the crank (kinda like dropping rocks in a puddle). The less oil that is clinging to the crank, the less drag on the crankshaft (which means more power available to send to the tires). Add to that the air moving around in the crankcase (as the pistons move up and down) and there is alot of potential for aeration too...
Will you have problems? I dunno. Do you push the motor hard or just piddle around with it at low rpms? That will have some impact. If its easy, I'd suggest getting the tray and putting it in (maybe even if its difficult). The tray comes as standard equipment on all of the motors (even the lowly truck motors get one) so GM thinks its worth the money, even for trucks.
BTW, the truck, vette, and f-body pans all take a different tray. Can't speak for the other variants.

I am very curious about the C6, Impala SS/Pontiac GP, and CTS-V oil pans... I looked at the drawing listed on this post and I didn't see any pans that looked like they'd fit my application. If anyone has or knows where I can get the dimensions, please chime in!

There is a thread and pic of the C6 pan somewhere in the LS2 / LS7 section. I know, 'cause I've seen it there. I'll look for it after lunch. You're welcome to search for it yourself if you'd like.

99+ Chevy K/C truck oil pan: GM part #12560393 has been replaced by GM part #12579273! Just a note for others.
I had to find this out the hard way.
