Default sending pcm in for a tune...what do i need

this is more of a conversion question than a pcm/diagnostics question so i am posting it here. What do I need to have them change/mod/delete from the pcm?

its a 98 f-body ls1/4l60e going into a completely custom built truck.

thanks guys

this is the wish list that i sent into my mail order tuner. he did it all and got me 20 more rwhp. i should receive it tomorrow. i will post the outcome.

PCM flash parameters

1. WISH LIST:

A The pcm will never prevent the engine from starting due to VATS, BCM and/or any other DTCs.

B The pcm will never shut the engine down

C Any scan tool will see all emission related parameters reported as “ready” with no history.

From LS1tech.com “With LS1 edit, for example if all DTCs involved in the readiness tests are set to “X” and SES to “off”. they will report ready. The test should not be turned to off. The DTCs involved are listed in the Helms manual. “

2. LS1/T56 - totally stock, 2002 Camaro SS, 26,000 miles

3. Maximum 91 octane gas will be used

4. 3.9 Differential-T56-.5/1 6th gear ratio.

5. Set idle to 800 rpm.

6. Stock coolant thermostat.

7. Set fan turn on temperature for HSC cooling with NO coolant recovery bottle

8. Stock MAF with screen. Stock throttle body, not ported, stock exhaust manifold & catalytic converters.

9. Tire diameter-24 7/8”

10. Speed limiter off

I DO NOT KNOW WHAT I DO NOT KNOW, so please don’t let me shoot myself in the foot.

i do not want to be half way between LA and Las Vegas in the 120 degree heat and have the PCM decide that the intake air temperature is too hot. etc.

C Any scan tool will see all emission related parameters reported as “ready” with no history.

in california, we have to take conversions to a smog referee. in addition to passing tail pipe emissions (which is easy), there has to be no history of any emissions related DTCs. if so, you have to show repair receipts. how do you do that if you bought the engine at a junk yard 2,000 miles away? by setting the error codes to "X" and turning SES to "off" there will be no history snd new DTCs will be blocked and leave no traces. if the emissions are below the limit for that particular engine, what difference does it make if at one time in the past, there was a problem that no longer exists?

5. Set idle to 800 rpm.

that is a little fast but if i start out in 3rd by mistake, i want enough rpm so as not to stall

7. Set fan turn on temperature for HSC cooling with NO coolant recovery bottle

HSC (Hinson SuperCars) makes a large radiator with a high pressure racing cap that does not use an overflow bottle. i do not want the coolant to get too hot when the engine is shut down. the fan will run on until the coolant reaches the safe temperature. i do not want to blow a hose

just my .02. i am sure others will differ with me.

i figure that since i watch my gauges, i do not need the PCM to tell me the oil pressure is low or the coolant is to hot and just shut the engine off. i can pull over and let things cool down or check the dip stick, or limp along or call for a tow. i want it to be my decision not the computer's.

ok here is what i have so far....what do you think?

no vats, egr or air systems
delete emissions, canister purge, evp etc
no cats, remove rear o2 sensors
30" tires, 3:42 gears
ram air, ported tb and MAF
custom 2.5" dual exhaust with h pipe
stock style manifolds
160 degree t-stat
Rev limiter to 6000 rpm
shifts at 5800 rpm at full throttle
No top speed limiter
remove all torque mangement
91 octane gas will be used
I want the pcm to turn on my electric fans(200 for the first fan and 210 for the 2nd fan)
using a return stye vette fuel rail

the passenger side front o2 sensor is on the catalytic converter pipe. you will have to provide a bung for it if there is not already one on your header. the driver side front sensor is on the manifold just above the flange.

If you want to get picky.... You can have your transmission so it shifts firm under full throttle and smooth under normal... Unless you have a shift kit. Once a shift kit is installed the line pressure has to be changed.
