Default didnt fire?????

ok guys i have a quick question . when i went to connect the battery terminal the ecm and diognostic plug in fuse kept blowing. and every thing is hooked up right i believe, so does this mean that i have a bum ecm?? and feed back would be appreatiated

try it with the pcm unplugged. if the fuse still blows, it is in the wiring. also when it is unplugged look inside the mating halves of the connector pins to see if there is some left over scrap of wire shorting some of the pins.

o yeah it doesnt blow when its unplugged. so there might be some excess wires in the harness.

Something I ran in to once.... the sheet metal on the bottom of the LS1 computer was dented in slightly causing a short because it was touching part of the circuit board. Didn't damage the computer, but did cause the ECM fuse to keep blowing.

any one els have any ideas??? im trying it again on thursday. just put my rims on and it looks sweet 17" cragers

PCM is mangled or you wired it wrong.

Whip out your Ohm meter and probe the batt positive cable to ground...if you have any short circuits, you'll get infinity (zero resistance). Then disconnect the PCM and repeat the test...if you don't get infinity this time, the PCM is suspect. If you do, the wiring is suspect.

If you get infinity w/ the PCM disconnected, you start probing individual circuits at their battery positive inputs until you find the one that reads infinity. Start at C100, then C101, then C105, etc. and disconnect each one, probe any pins that are batt positive either fulltime or ignition-switched on each side of the connector. Soon as you find one that reads infinity, you're on the trail.

yea, what he just said..


you'll need to trace down where its shorting at... since its blowing right away (i assume), you probly have a direct short somewhere.. that makes it easy to trace down.
