Default Started it up today!

I finally started my 1995 chevy silverado with a LQ9 6.0L engine and 4L80e transmission today. There's no exhaust on it now, and there are no driveshafts, so taking a ride is about a week off. I also need to work out an air intake system. The thing has a comp 212/218 cam in it, you can hear it in the video. So far things are looking good!

Plan to get a 96-99 vortec 350 airbox that mounts between the battery and coolant resivoir, then run PVC ducting (painted black) to th throttle body. Going to pick an airbox up from the junkyard this week sometime. I will get some pictures tomorrow when it is light outside again.

i got chills Only a few more weeks and my fuel cell should be here, and I will be starting mine up for the first time also. Hopefully it sounds half that good!!!!! Lemme know what kind of mileage you pull out of that...i may upgrade to a 6.0 down the road.

I built my own adapter plates out of 1/4" hot rolled steel using templates I found on the net. The plates adapt the 4 bolt mount pattern on the gen III block to the 3-bolt pattern on the old SBC mounts.

looking good, what kind of power does the Lq9 make? like mid 300's? whats the truck going to be? just a import stomping truck toy?

The LQ9 makes 345 HP in its stock application in the Escalades. Most aftermarket companies that sell them with a PCM that has been modified report 400 HP dyno readings. Mine also has a 212/218 cam so I expect to have somewhere over 400 HP at the crank.

The truck is just going to be my daily driver. It has to be reliable, get decent mileage, and have all the comforts of a nice vehicle.
