Coolant fitting location

Coolant fitting location Is there anywhere else people are putting the sensor for coolant temp other than on the drivers side head? It seem right next to the header, so I am unsure if I am getting a good reading. I am working with a 1999 LS1!! Thanks for the help!!
I put a VDO sending unit in the water pump on the round casting boss next to the TB cam/arm. Drilled and tapped it and it works like a charm.
It is also a great place to bleed air out of your cooling system as it is the highest point in the motor.
