Default Vin # help needed please

The engine I bought should be a 2001 block from a camaro and I've been trying to understand how to decode the VIN number, however I can't seem to do it because the only numbers I have are these from the driver's side of the block.
Laser etched and some are difficult to read because the middle numbers have scratch marks over them: 112135345
Then there's this number on the block: 12559376 = This tell's me that the block is a 99 and up but that all I can figure out.
I also have the PCM, are the numbers on the barcode label of any use?
Can someone help me figure this out and

Thanks

The first "1" means Chevrolet, the 2nd "1" means 2001, and the next 7 numbers are the last 7 digits of the VIN.

Your info would indicate it's probably a 2001 Camaro LS1.

The number thats important is the " 112135345"
If you remove the "1" from that number, your left with the last eight digits of the VIN number. Using those eight, the complete VIN can be determined:
2G1FP22GX12135345

This breaks down to be a 2001 Z28 Camaro. It was equipped with an Automatic transmission and was also a WU8 car, also known as an "SS"

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info. This helps a lot.
How can it be a Z28 and a SS at the same time?

How can you tell it was equipped with an automatic tranny?

It had to be a Z28. These cars did not leave the factory as an "SS". They leave the factory as a Z28. They are then sent to the SLP facility a few miles down the road where the "SS" conversion takes place. Its a "factory" option, just not done at the factory, similar to thirdgen convertibles.

I know it had an automatic because option codes are available with a VIN number.

It's a A4, what is the "SS" conversion? Do you know what options were installed to make it a "SS"?
What would the be rated horse power for this engine?

Sorry if I'm asking too many questions but I really want to know what I have.

Thanks

What code do you look for in the VIN number to know it's an automatic?

You don't. You take that VIN to a dealer, or anybody who can use that VIN to pull up option codes.
