Default '63 SWC project progress...

In case anyone is interested...

Here is a link to my 63 Splitwindow Corvette project. Key specs of the project are:

Motor = LS2 from '05 GTO with less than 2 miles on it
Tranny = T56 from same GTO
Front suspension = '02 Corvette complete (k-member, control arms, brakes, etc.)
Rear suspension = IRS from same GTO
Interior = GTO leather seats with center panel replaced with Corvette crossed flags embroidered in leather taken from GTO rear seat. GTO stearing wheel and column...guages are TBD, we are trying to figure out how to use the modern electronics with the stock appearance...remainder of interior will remain stock appearing.
Exterior = will be shot Black with clearcoat...all stock appearance with exception of 17" wheels.

Enjoy...

GTO seats rule. Neat project. Was your GTO donor one of the ones totalled in the big train wreck?

Here is a link with a couple of pix of the wreck. http://tinyurl.com/azbt8

I don't think you will find any of these cars on Ebay unless it is the parts from them. For liability reasons I think they have to part them out.

I was heading down the C5 IRS route until the GTO IRS became too good of a deal to pass up...we'll see how the car handles with the GTO rear...if it sux, we'll swap in C5 equipment...

For the gauges, talk to http://www.redlinegaugeworks.com/, they did a VDO electronic speedo modification to fit my 1957 Chevy cluster

RestoVette63 how did you go about purchasing the parts? I'd like to see about getting an 05 bumper and hood for my GTO.

Is posting non-sponsor information allowed on these forums?

If so I will be happy to give the information of my builder who has the connections and could use the support from listers to get his business up and running.

I'm more curious about where you found a project car condition '63 Vette. I've been browsing 63-67 Vettes and most of them are restored, or poorly maintained with a high price tag. I'd like to find a shell like you did.

I purchase mine from Ebay...talk about a leap of faith...

It was/is more than just a shell...I'll have plenty of parts to sell to the folks are doing a pure restore of their '63's...

I keep an eye on ebay and a couple other places just to confirm I got a decent deal, and to this point it appears I did. Interestingly there were 2 cars on ebay in about the same condition when I bought mine.

No in depth research or anything I just go extremely lucky...

Sorry for the delay...

Give David a call at 405-474-0791. He can get his hands on the seats, bumpers covers, and hood. He also has an LS1 (pan to injectors including accessories, harness, and PCM) out of an '02 Corvette that he is selling (was slated to go into my car until we found the LS2)
