Default Oil pressure sensor plug not in my s&p harness

I wired up the street and perf ls1 wiring harness to my 98 ls1 tonight and it was super easy. however it seems that I am missing the oil pressure sensor plug. If I am correct I need this to run the engine right???

Just to be sure I am talking about the tall stalky thing sticking upwards off the back of the engine.

Is this soley for a guage or does it have to run through the pcm????

dang you would think for a $800 harness they could include the alternator and oil pressure wiring!!!!!!

thanks guys....last few things before I get to crank it!!!!

Hi, I am not sure what you are looking at but to get oil pressure, you need to drill out the cover on your pan, (it bolts on) near the oil filter and tap it with a fitting and use a mechanical oil pressure gauge or sender. as for the alt, the harness should have a one wire plug for the back of the alt and you need to make a larger wire for the 12V battery connection too.. good luck

There is this plug off the back of the intake manifold area there. I read in my manual that its a oil pressure sensor for a stock car. Since I will be runing a 98 vette cluster I would think i could still use this sender right?

there are 2 pins in that plug....is one a ground and the other for the gauge or what?

I don't know if this helps you any, but the sending units are different between the Y & F bodies... The corvette sender has a 3 way connector while the f-bodies only have a 2 way... Here's the GM part #'s on the two pigtail connectors for the sending unit.

-For 98' F-bodies part#12126436
-For 98' Y-body part#88988301

Hope this helps ya out.

thanks....i know the vettes oil pressure signal runs through the pcm where the f-bodys doesnt. something to do with the electric throttle.

Does this mean that its different senders or just an additional wire??

Ya think the f-body oil pressure signal will work with the 98 vette guage cluster????

Damn I thought i was so close to starting it up too!!!

thanks for the help

Yes the senders are different as well... And I'm really not sure if one will work with the other.

hmm another problem....my guage cluster doesnt have an input for the oil pressure signal it comes through with the serial data from the pcm.

According to the pcm diagram I have...the f-body pcm doesnt have an input for the oil pressure at all.
So is there any way to get the oil pressure signal into the serial data stream??? Maybe by sending the pcm off to a mail order tuner and have him add this to the pcm?

That's what I used too. With a little adapter from autobarn.com I put it in the place where that factory sender was. Fit like a glove.

ive already got the little piece about the oil filter off so im just going to go that route. I just wish i could have gotten all the gauges on my c-5 gauge cluster to work. Oh well, something else to work out later

Is this connector the same for an LS2 engine?

TIA!

I've got an S&P harness too, and it doesn't have a connector for the oil press. sw. either, I guess the PCM doesn't need the input. I wired up an Auto Meter oil pressure gauge off the casting on the lower left of the engine like everyone else.
