Default Carbed LSx??

ok, theres a ton of nice motors that people are putting together with the LSx blocks but all of these motors are FI and lots with turbo's. im wondering if anyone has done an LSx based all motor build up with carb instead of FI, no blower no superchargers or turbo. I would like to know how this would work out and if a 500 to 600 hp range is possable with a carbed LSx motor.

Question Want to get inform abt LS1 Carb.

I saw the magazine (Chevy High Performance, August 2005) about LS-1 Carburetor Manifold.

I have 2002 Camaro LS-1 V-8 engine( Block Cast #12559378, Cylinder Head #241 and Crankshaft #12552216) and would like to have build on my LS-1 with Carburetor Manifold and Distributor without electronic/computer control in future. I would like to run 520-600 horsepower on Road Course/Drag Street.

I need to know where I can get information about it. I need find out what components what I need to add on my LS1 engine with NO computer control.

If you do know about it, please email me or who I can speak to?

Please let me know about it.

Thank you so much for replying me .

edelbrock has a kit, but make sure you get the victor jr version. the msd box should be out as well(soon i hope) both of these units use the factory crank, map and cam sensor, as well as the coil packs.
WAR has a kit out that uses buick coils and traditional plug wires, but still employs the factory sensors above, minus the coil packs.

there are other units out, but none are needed for the carb, lil too exaggerated for a fuel leak, they lean more towards EFI, but there are other(more expensive) alternatives
ill be selling my edelbrock box, if i can get my hands on a MSD unit.

good luck.

Since you guys bought the victor jr. do you have race motors? Everything I have read is that the jr. dosen't start to make any power until 3500 rpm. Plus edelbrock told me that it wasn't intended for street use. I'm building a street motor to drive and play with at the track. I am going with the performer rpm and a 04 zo6 cam for stealth mode. It should make around 420 hp. I would love to buy the msd box but I'm on a tight budget. What do you guys think?

not too bad. i think ill stick with the edelbrock box for now. its paid for, so its free.
the msd box looks like the ticket in the long run, being able to program curves and such.
the edelbrock box is boring. they incorporate entirely too much timing in the pills, and there is not a thing you can do to take them out.

you do not have to buy the extra harness, unless you want to mount the control box on the intake. the extra harness #60101 is a shorter version.

Well I have been driving my LS1 carb for about 2 days straight. AND I must say it is really fun. Power is Great and driveability is better. Worked most of the kinks out so far.

I have talked to a few people and the general statement is it is about a 330RWHP car about 380-390 at the crank. I have been told buy a guy with a Built lt1 11.9 best ET oon muscle that a loose non-lockup converter will not show the true HP numbers. He runs 12.1-11.9 and makes 255rwhp with a 4000 non lockup stall and TH350. Solid roller LT1 with 11to1 compression full on suspension gears etc...

I am not worried about my dyno numbers. (259/337) I feel that I have a solid mid to low 13 second car... though I was shooting for high 12s. I have owned 3 camaros and ran them all at the track so My butmeter is decent. I will get it to the track soon to test it in the real world.

to prove your piont about dyno #'s with a looswe converter, i only picked up 50rwhp on a 100 shot, and LOST 60pd ft on the bottle.
track times should show otherwise friday night, cause it pulls really nice now.
