STS turbo on 3rd gen LS1?

im curious if anyone has tried the STS kit on an LS1/3rd gen transplant. im wanting to know if the tubing and such will fit like a 4th gen, i know the undercarrage of the two cars are similar but just want to know for sure before purchasing.

It should with a few mods the floor pan in the fourth is a carryover from third gens with a few mods to the front k-member mounting points and frame rails.

it wont fit.

well, it kinda will.

the exhaust hangers are diffrent.
the front exhaust routing is diffrent until you get to the I-pipe.

so you'll be modding that.

the intake tube... no way in heck will it fit.

i am very familiar with the undercarriage... while the rear suspension mounting points are identical, the stampings are very diffrent... no way will it fit. you'll basically be making a custom setup.

STS is working on a third gen setup. I don't know if they tried one with an LS1 yet.

I have also heard that they were working on a third gen system...And I cant see that it would take too much work to retrofit it to an ls1 The only problems I see if they made a third gen system is room to get intake tubing into the front of the engine bay, and matching it up with an ls1 throttle body rather than a TPI throttle body. Might be a decent solution for those of us who would like to go turbo and dont want to get rid of our stainless steel longtubes

, because their aint much room to work with when it comes to turbos.

The word on the thirdgen.org board is that STS has completed 3 third gen cars with the turbo. They do not offer a kit, but will modify their LT1 kit to work for a third gen.

By the way they have done a couple of twin turbo LS1 cars!
