I was curious to see if anyone has tried this yet. I was thinking of doing one of these swaps and wanted to get a idea of what i'd be getting myself into. Thanks,

Well, they (Chrysler) spent a lot of time and money trying to get a V8 to fit but couldn't while keeping the car legal (safety/crash and fitment issues) for the street. They finally settled on the V6 so I'd say chances are slim... unless someone out there already found a way. I may be possible - just not by the manufacturer.

Question LS1 prowler..........

I don't think it's possible. But, imagine a PT Cruiser with a rear mounted LS1 with a 6 speed transaxle................

There was a rumor LPE was working on dropping a LS1 in a prowler.

I think it would take some mods to the frame and body to get the LS1 to fit. A GN V6 turbo would be cool though.

No need for the Buick engine, the prowler's is probably much more powerfull N/A and lighter to boot. Just turbo it. A turbo Prowler. Why didn't they think of that?

Anyways, does the original poster actually own (not looking at buynig) a prowler? If so, i will be very much looking forward to seeing progress putting an LS1 into such a cool looking body.

I saw a few around back when they first came out, but then, after that year, i never saw one again.

It was an issue of C/D several (6 at least?) years ago. I believe it was a 383 stroker.

There was a tuner that did V8 conversions in Prowlers. I can't remember where I saw that though. I do remember that they had huge bulges in the side panels to fit the motor.

I was gonna say.....if all these guys can fit LSx motors in Miatas, how can someone not find a way to squeeze one into a Prowler?

prowler engine/trans set up is like a vette, they run a 42le trans (crap), a fwd transaxle from the LH bodys. I don't think there is enough room for a 4l65 with diff back there,

a rear mounted turbo like some of the STS ones could work nice, but thats not what everyone is talking bout

having "played" many times with the prowlers just my 2cents

You can do anything with enuf $$$. An aluminum TA Performance Buick V6 block coupled with their heads to make 274ci (This TA Perf creation was co-engineered and guidelines provided by Duttweiller) and healthy turbo would make that car fly.

That would be a much cooler conversion.....
