There is a sensor on the passenger side of the block. It is about half way up the water jacket twords the back of the block. I do not know if this is the correct sensor but i think it is.

On a '98 you have to remove the starter to get to it.

Thnx Chris! I'll Look Into If There Is A Pinched Wire If Not, Guess Replace The Sensor... Just A Screw Thathat Holds It Right? Then Push It Out? Any Damage To The Car If Kept Driven Like So? Car Idles And Runs Fine.

yeah....its once bolt that holds the sensor in.....once the bolt is removed you just pull the sensor straight out (can be tight....don't worry...just keep pulling) and push a new one in (again...can be tight so push until the "metal tab" that the bolt goes through is seated against the block).......

no you shouldn't hurt anything (its just a magnet).....if the sensor were "that bad" the car wouldn't run.....

thnx! again! NOW.... AT FIRST WHEN ALL WAS FINISH I WAS NOT ABLE TO RUN MY CAR. IT WILL CRANK BUT IT WILL NOT START. I CHECKED TO SEE IF FUEL WAS COMMING FROM THE TANK TO THE RAILS AND YES. I THOUGHT MAYBE INJECTORS ARE CLOGGED OR MAYBE THE PCM. LATER I FOUND OUT THE PROBLEM WAS THE INJECTORS WERE NOT GROUNDING. 2 DAY LATER I FOUND OUT THAT I HAD NOT PLUGGED IN THE WIRE TO THE CAMSHAFT SENOR, HOOKED IT UP AND WAM! THE CAR FIRED RIGHT UP.. MAYBE DO TO THIS IS HURT IT SOMEHOW? I ERASED THE CODES WITH MY CODE CHECKER FROM ACTRON AND WENT OUT BUT CAME BACK ON LATER AS I DROVE IT. ANY HOW.. I'LL REPLACE THIS BABY HOPE ITS NOT TO EXPENSIVE!!! KEEP U UPDATED.

Now that you have changed the crank sensor you need to do the

DTC P1336 Crankshaft Position (CKP) System Variation Not Learned

This sets the timming on the LS1- but only the GM tech two scaner can do this. No other scaner I know of can.

Hello..on That Crank Sensor I Replaced It Thinking It Was Bad But It Was Not The Problem. The Problem Was The Camshaft Sensor And Was My Human Error Not Paying Close Attention To The Code I Was Recieving. Problem Was I Had Left That Sensor Unplugged. Even Though I Changed The Crankshaft Sensor Knowing The Old One Was Still Good..do I Still Need To Do This? Take It To A Gm Dealer..if Anything What Problems May I Have If I Let It Be. Car Idles Fine And Runs Smooth. Thnx

Could have ripped the wires out when the belt came apart. I would check there first.
