Plastic tank in a 1st Gen???
I am new to the LS1 world and I am a Autoshop teacher in NC, so I have to put on the impression that I know what the heck I'm doing in front of my students, which is hard sometimes. Our class project is a 1st gen LS1 6 speed swap. What I want to know is if their is any plastic tanks that will swap into the 1st gen fairly easy. We have a 2k Z28 that is our donor car but I think it will require too much fab work to make it work. Also I saw the stuff on TANKS INC about using a stock tank and making it work with a in tank pump.
Any thoughts or input would be great.
Thanks.

I know he is running a plastic tank, I beleive out of a '96 caprice. I'd e-mail or PM him he knows what it takes to fit. He posts on www.Lateral-g.net alot so you can find his contact info there.
Sounds like a cool project, wish my teacher in High-school would have taught us that!
Any help would be great.
Thanks
It makes dropping in the fuel pump assy very easy, plus it has the carbon canister in the rear on top of the tank for a cleaner engine bay.
Had to fab my own tank straps too, but I think the result is worth the hassle.

Hope I was able to help a bit.
This mod can be done as evidenced by my car up and running now just shy of 4K miles and having made a solo trip from Florida to Ohio in the middle of July.
It is by no means a direct swap, but it works and saves MAJOR $$$. The killer thing about it is the expanded capacity. I can go just under 400 miles stretching it out on fumes with the Caprice tank.
I don't know of many other first gens or even 4th gens that can stretch that far inbetween fill ups.
One day when I can get settled in to my new house (Just moved and changed jobs last month), I will do a full write up on many of the DIY mods on my 69 Camaro.
Thanks!
