Sorry to resurrect an ancient thread, but this is the only thread I was able to pull up in a search for dual or selectable tuning.
I would love to have a dual tune, selectable, valet setting, whatever you call it.
I am attempting to swap a 2000 Firebird LS1 and 6-speed manual into a '53 Chevy pickup sitting on an S-10 frame. Crazy, I know. Will the tow/performance setting work on a manual trans?
Because of the way the pickup will be used, it would be very helpful to have a performance mode and a mode that limits top speed, revs, and overall performance.
It would be even better if the performance mode could be locked or limited to one set of keys. Wonder if you could use the GM keys with a resistor in them as a "switch". Normal keys = valet mode, key with resistor = performance???
Any ideas or links would be appreciated.

The tow/haul mode will not work for what you want. What you would need is a custom operating system (custom OS) I know that you can reprogram the PCM with EFI Live7 to do that using one of their custom OS`s, I think HPTuners may also offer a custom OS like that but I`m not sure. The tow/haul mode only changes transmission settings.

These options enable the various shift pattern modes within the PCM.
Note: J1 is the 'BLUE' connector on the PCM.
Switch types used must be momentary connect to ground.
'No Switch' = Performance mode via a switch is not functional.
'One Switch' = Performance mode via a switch can be activated (J1 - pin71).
'Two Switches' = Performance mode via a switch can be activated (J1 - pin71), and Manual Mode can be activated (J1 - pin31).
'C2 Data Bus' = Shift pattern modes are sent on the data bus to the PCM from another module, eg - BCM.
Only the following values may be entered into this table:
- No Switch
- One Switch
- Two Switches
- C2 Data Bus
EFI states that I can set up two switches pin 71 and pin 31. Pin 31 states that Manual Mode what does that mean? Does that mean I can press a button connected to pin 31 and it will only shift the transmission when I press the button?

Sounds like he's enabling/disabling the "Performance shift" feature. Changes line pressures, shift points, and I believe touches on the fuel/spark tables. So it can be enabled in the LS1 PCM eh? I use it a lot in my Grand Prix GTP (which has it stock). I may have to look into this... ![Happy](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_stretch.gif)
