Default Oil Level sensor plug

Does anyone know of a plug that can be used to plug off the hole for the oil level switch on a LS1 pan? I put a F body pan on a LS2, and it did not come with a switch, and I can't see buying one since the LS2 does not use the switch and there is no connection for it to the PCM.

I would leave the switch on if it had one. I am just trying to avoid buying one if I don't have to. I am guessing that it is a metric thread which will make it real hard to find. I would also presume that it is a straight thread and not a pipe thread since the original switch installs with an O-ring.

I found a bolt at local nut n bolt shop but the thing was 3" long had to cut it down but they charge by the length and size so it was a $10 bolt.

Your best off getting it welded up if you a modifying your pan as the bolt will leak without thread tape and a fibre washer.

Thumbs up There are two great sources...

for plugs like this. O-ring or not. The first is Aero-Quip. Get a catalog or go to your local Aero-Quip parts house. Actually, they were bought out by Eaton Corp., so they are now called Eaton-AeroQuip. They are in the catalog. Second is McMasters-Carr (McMaster.com) . Get their catalog. You won't believe how extensive it is. Gar

Post in the parts wanted section . I sure someone has an extra one you could get cheap . It would be better than a oil leak.

Check over at the LS2 and LS7 section. I asked over there as well and a gentelman named John Lawson found a source locally for them and picked me up one as well. He can tell you where he got them. I posted a couple of links there as well. He indicted it was a 20mm X 1.5 thread. I did not find one in either the Areoquip or Mcmaster-Carr catalog.

FYI, I found one at Advance today. It was on the rack with oil drain plugs and was only $1.98.

yeh its real simple. 20mm x 1.5, at any auto parts store, should be a couple of bucks and should have a gasket with it.. just bought on the other day...

I just used a Oil Pan Drain plug.. with the correct threads (I don't recall right now). But it is a common part at most parts stores. (Dorman)

the threads/bolt is a 20mm x 1.5, it will say that on the package, I picked mine up from a place called OReilly's out here and autozone could have ordered it... NAPA had it also... and may hardware stores

Thanks for the info guys, I picked up one at Advanced yesterday, was only a couple of $$. Dorman part #65221, it's exactly like the one in LSCustoms' pic.
