In my experience, the car will be worth less by like $5K grand for a nice car, and it's no big deal.
Unless your car is like a rare one, like a 300 post coupe or an L78 car do what you want.
I had a 69Z with the orig tranny, but the block was a 71 CE block (350ci) so even though the car needed paint I sold it for $13K. All orig it was a $17-18K car. But I would not have been able to buy it for $9K like I did a few years before, it's all relative.

It was the least expensive way for me. Since I have the engine out, I'll try to get some pics to ya soon.
