The Beretta has been sitting as I decide what to
put in it engine wise after the block cracked from being beat on after it was stolen. I had a 3.1 bored .030 with a bunch of intake and exhaust work and topped it all off with a Powerdyne supercharger.
The Fiero guys are big inspiration with
the larger choice of engines but Northstars V8s are
expensive and cost more to replace. Fitting it in
the front to the stock manual is limiting. I really
want a V8. Looked at putting a rear differential in
the Beretta...independent or solid... C5 torque tube
setup is novel and within an inch of the Beretta wheel
base and width. It includes the front and rear
subframe as one piece housing the full suspension. Some cutting will be required
and adapters made to fit the Beretta chasis to the
Corvette bottom.
Here is what the running gear would look like:
http://norcal-cobras.com/GTM/gtm_bui...s/IMG_3173.jpg
If I am going to spend couple of thousand for a good boosted V6
setup good for about 300whp I am going to need
brakes...another couple of grand. The open differential with 260 wtrq is no fun when one of the wheels decides to hydroplan. For few grand more I could have the ultimate in chasis running gear as the slavaged C5 might be the ticket with all aluminum
subframe. I might even loose weight from the stock
2700 lbs. replacing steel subframe with aluminum. The rear trailing arm does weigh over 100 lbs. without wheels and the front subframe cradle has got to weigh in close to 700 lbs. wet as it was difficult to slide on the garage floor this past week.
Lots of parts for sale! I
don't know if the Z06 for a few grand more would be
worth it since the I probably will not have to do
anything to the suspension and aftermarket bolt-ons
are plentyful for the 5.7 V8. Just cost and time as a constraint. But bookark this page for future updates.
Here is a C5 panel fitted up to the Beretta door.

The skin fits surprisingly close to the stock door. The dew strip on the bottom of the window fits relatively snug and the bottom is flush. The door pull will have to realigned and door latch end of the C5 skin has a scallop in it exposing some of the door innards. I'll probably just add a filler panel.

my 86 Mazda RX7 is getting a LS1/4L60E from a bent 99 Camaro.
just finished getting the motor out of the camaro... and ordering parts. so basically, I'm just getting started... and selling off what I don't need.
I've already been digging up info on the swap, and will continue to do so... I'm sure i'll have unanswered questions when I'm in the thick of it.

My conversion is an electronblue 1973 corvette ,i started from scratch with a new 99 ls1 block and added all 2004 internals with arp fasteners.I modified my hooker sidepipes and mated them to ls1 flanges so i could retain the sidepipes. Its backed by a modified 700r4 with a 2100 stall and 3.70 gears.Heres some pics of what ive done to it.

First off, nice looking forum. Looks overwhelming with information!
My conversion will be starting later in the year after I finish my rolling chassis. I am working on a 67 Chevy II station wagon which will be getting a single turbo'd LS7 "Warhawk" block and headed engine. I've been torn back and forth between SBC and BBC for the last few months but once I saw the World Products "Warhawk" stuff I knew thats exactly what I needed to build. If things go my way I am aiming on dipping into the 7's on drag radials. I am starting this project from scratch right now and have been buying alot of my parts for the chassis and hope to have it back in the shop for the 25.5 chassis buildup withing the next 6 weeks. I am just trying to get the chassis done by Hot Rod Magazines Drag Week in which were gonna drop my friends SBC w/ an F-2 in it. After that I am gonna begin the new LS engine build up and hope to debut it early '07. Looking foward in "sponging" up all the info I need since I am pretty new to the LS stuff. Thanks.
