In August of this year my 454 developed a slight rod-knock. I thought I would limp along for a bit while I figured what I was going to do, but it progressed pretty fast and by about 3 weeks was knocking pretty hard and I could feel the rough idle of the engine. So...I parked it before anything really bad happened!
I contemplated a Vortec 454, but a decent engine was hard to find that didn't need a lot of work, or was missing the top-end. I wanted to build an L21 engine out of one as I did not want to commit to the frame-rail surgery that was required to fit a 8.1L.
In my difficulty finding a Vortec 454 that was worth the money being asked, I started looking at LS engines and what it would cost to go that route.
Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago and I am now the owner of a 6.0l LQ4 out of a 2004 GMC Yukon XL 2500 with 95k on the odometer. I got the engine from a real class-act recycler that disconnects everything at the connections, caps open lines and just does a proper job of dropping-out an engine. I got a full drop-out with PCM, wiring harness and even the Yukon Power Distribution Box!
I have a few questions here: https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversio...0-6-0l-ls.html
and I am sure I will have more!

I'm from the U.K and own a company called Driftworks, we have an old Toyota Corolla AE86 that's had a lot of work done to become the DW86.
The build always had an LS, but we've gone through a few revisions, and we're currently rebuilding our RHS LSX454 with RHS 307cc heads, Mamo Motorsports valve train, Dailey dry sump, Jenvey throttle bodies.
The car is currently 1120kg (2470lb) which is very heavy for an 86, but then as well as the big engine, it has a huge Winters/Howe axle, Quaife sequential box, and a lot of T45 re-inforcement.

2)2016 6.2 LS3
My question's are should I use 6.2 LS3 balancer and water pump? Do I need to purchase power steering pump and alternator bracket for 6.2?
I have installed the 5.3l balancer and water pump on the 6.2 and having problems with 5.3 power steering and alternator bracket.(clearance issues)
much help would be obliged.
dash. New paint.
Current long-term thoughts: cheapie 6.0, LSA blower, 4L80. The idiot in me wants to say 4x4 T56 but past a certain weight sticks aren't quite as much fun. Who knows.
