Ah.... well you might like these too then. This was last weekend, I chucked the roof section on so I could get busy with prefitting stuff like a bulge in the bulkhead for the blower drive, gauges/dash etc.

VERY happy with the wheels, I nearly went gold anodized and was gonna go the old John Player Special racing theme with the black and gold... but I went this colour for a more subtle look, gonna try and match the anodizing on the wheels for some other areas, I have a mate that can do it.

Interior is tan leather, dash pod and face of dash area in CF.

All the scrap cardboard on the ground everywhere is from making templates for fabbed aluminium bits and pieces for the engine bay.

After last night's binge on Summit's site, the rear of the car is going to sit a little lower cos of the weight of braided lines and fittings.

Hoping to get this on the road in 6-8 weeks.... will keep the photos comin.

Hats off once again. I'll be watching the progression of this little hell machine.

That car will be sweet when completed. I assume you are installing a/c?

Man do I love these cars. The style is an aquired taste, but once you get a ride in one there is NO question whatsoever! I rode in Jeff's last year at the Ultima Gathering and with 550hp it was insane! I can't wait to see it this year with the 1,000+hp he is shooting for!

The build is looking really good crafty. And I have been busting up laughing at your posts over on pistonheads.com and now here. You are one hilarious fellow. Hello Kitty Wiper Blades.....

Haha YOU TOO?! Damn I thought I was the only one with that combo! J/K sick *** car you building man. Good choice on the wheels too, they look amazing. You should see if you can do some subtle pinstriping on the body in that grey color to match the wheels or something like that. Cant wait to see the finished product and that yellow twin turbo ultima looks insane!

Is that guy "Jeff-Texas" over on pistonheads for real???

In short, I used foam to insulate chassis pipes cos its really noisy inside the GTR with the rollcage over your head.... this ****** rekons the chassis will explode, and the rivets will come flying out and kill people.....so I had to give him a spanking....

He starts at the bottom of this page of the thread.... I start at him on page 2 of that thread...
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/t...&f=20&t=248345

Then I gave him this......
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/t...&f=20&t=252246

And finished him with this.....
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/t...&f=20&t=252994

... actually, I'm inspired and gonna have another go at him right now.

I'm not sure if you've done any research into that foam, but there are some downsides, besides flying rivets , to using it that you might not be aware of. The big one that makes me shy away from it is that it has a low flash point so you can't really weld near it after it cures. Hopefully you'd never have to replace any bent chassis bits, but it's something to think about before you fill everything up.

He just sounds like a worrier to me. While anything is possible, the probability that it would happen is another story. You would need a really strange combonation of factors for his theory to happen and that is extremenly unlikely.

I would also like to point out that Ford has been showing commercials here recently where they show a heat activated foam that fills in the hollow body sections to deaden noise. They show a guy in a heat suit hit the truck with a hammer and get a ringing twang sound. Then he walks to a safe room, the truck is fired (heated), and they show the foam expanding inside a cross section of the A-Pillar. Then he goes back and hits it again with the hammer. And it sounds like a dead thud.

So you are just doing what the OEM's are doing now for noise abatement. I am curious to see how your sounds different when on the road. Make sure you take good notes if you ride in Jeff's this summer so you can compare. You have me intrigued with this idea.

Another note on the foam thing. Lots of guys racing later model Uni-body type cars will use foam to fill the spaceframe for strength.
