Default What do I put my vortec 383 in?

I have a stroker thats base is a '93 pickup 350 block with Elgin 383 crank, flat tops, ported vortec heads, Speed pro hydraulic (.471/.490 lift) roller cam, roller rockers, balanced, the works. Couldn't get the computer and TBI in the '93 to run, so pulled it and sold the truck. Now, I am looking for an F-body to put it in. Looks like '98 or newer had vortec, so I could use the stock intake and injection.

Anyone had any luck with this combination. What are issues, concerns? Does it make sense to port the stock manifold and use it? What about injectors? would they need changed? Computer? What other mods make sense with this combo?

Looking for some good advice before I jump in.

Thanks

the genIII shares nothing with your motor except bore spacing. and in all honesty, it would be a step backwards to put that motor in a 98+ fbody.

So what are the differences between blocks? The vortec heads are said to be off a gen III motor and bolt right up on an early block? Why would it be a step backwards?

Excuse my ignorance, I am an old school, 350 and 400 4 bolt 2.02 head guy.

Thanks

I thought the vortec heads where on the LT1. And the heads don't fit the LS1. The differances between the two engines are very vast. Too much to list. Check the stickies there is a lot of good info there. OH, and use the engine. The LS1 is a very good engine but, so is the traditional small block.

Ahhhh. I did a little more research and see the error of my ways. Big diff between the LS1 and LT1. Guess I will find something a little older to stick the stroker in.

Thanks

I would get an old 93-97 v6 car and put it in that.

From your screen name, looks like you have one. If so, what is yours in?

To put a V8 in a V6 car, what all do you run into? I know you would have to do suspension and motor mounts. Then all of the right brackets, plumbing. What about the computer and injection set-up. How big a job is it?
