Default Corvette brackets

I am looking for the brackets from a Corvette to move the powersteering pump and alt. This is for a 2000 LS1 out of a Camaro. The way the brackets are now the alt hits the frame. Also in need of remote resivour for power steering from late model Corvette.

You'll need a Corvette crank dampener/balancer too. The Corvette belt sits 3/4" closer to the block than the Camaro setup. None of the accessories are interchangable.

Good luck....The C5 stuff is around, but seems that most of the access either get sold with the engine or sold as parts for top dollar to C5 guys.

Check the sticky's at the top of the page for a listing of C5 accessory drive part numbers.

As mentioned before, you need pretty much everything. Balancer, PS, Alt, AC compressor & bracket are different (may be able to modify your F-body AC setup to work with the C5 stuff). Not sure about the water pump, may need to modify the pulley location. Some of the tensioner pieces and idler pullies are the same, but not many.

A possibility would be to only use the C5 alternator & PS pump, with the rest of the F-body hardware. It would require some spacers (about .75") and might look a bit ghetto (depending upon your skills). Use Your best judgement as to whether you want to make that work or not.

The truck stuff uses a similar layout to the C5 stuff, but is another 2.25" away from the block than the F-body stuff (and about 3" further forward than the C5 stuff). And I'm not sure if you can use the car intake manifold with the truck accessories. You'll need to check that out. But, if truck access will fit, they're pretty easy to get.

Kyle,

Watch on EBay they show up fomr time to time. What kind of car are you putting it in? I am having a similar problem and though it seems a little drastic I am coming to the conclusion that the best sollution may be to notch the frame.

I'm assuming that you've got plenty of room in front of the motor, right?

Why not just run truck accessories? You can find them almost anywhere, and they've got the same basic layout as the 'vette accessories.

Most of the guys who are looking for C5 (or C6 for that matter) accessories are putting LSx motors into things like S10's and BMW's and such that don't have the room between the engine and radiator and therefore are willing (because nothing else fits) to spend the $$$$. Most of this stuff doesn't go cheap (something about them being Corvette parts).

I have plenty of room in front of motor but, where the alt and A/C comp mount on the bottom they are hitting the crossmember so I need to move them up. The truck brackets move the bottom acces. up? Any info would be great.

The truck brackets move the Alternator up, but the A/C is low on all of them. We had quite a discussion on the A/C bracket options and I think the conclusion was if you want to raise it up, you will need to either design you own, or purchase one of the units from S&P or other sources for about $350.

Do the truck brackets move the alt. up? And if so where do you mount the powersteering pump?

Here is a picture I copied from a truck motor for sale on Ebay so you can see the mounts. The Power steering is below the Alternaotr, similar to the Corvette. There are a lot of pictures of the truck V-8 in this add if you want to take a look

Hope that helps

BlackX, Thanks for the part #s. I compared a couple of the parts on Partszone to http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/ and gmpartsdirect was a little cheaper. (Balancer was 99.83 @ partszone and 86.81 @ gmpartsdirect. I did not compare the shipping.

Thanks again for the part #s, I need some bolts.

55 Chevy make sure you check shipping, Gmpartsdirect can be a complete rip on shipping.
FYI

Yup, that's where their profit is. The "price" is a bit of a teaser, then you figure out what the shipping is and realize you can do better. For instance, the price on the PS pump is better, but there is about $40 in "S&H".

Also note that the C5 accessory drive system parts list provided above has 1 "small" omission. The bracket that actually mounts the power steering pump and alternator is not listed. The PS pump / Alt bracket part number (best I can figure out) is 12578068. Also note that according to my sources, the F-body PS pump doesn't fit in the C5 bracket, so it must be changed.

And, as I mentioned before, think seriously about the truck drive system. There are probably a whole bunch more LSx truck motors being parted out every year than the total number of C5's built (from '97 to '05). Your wallet will thank you (if you do some good shopping).

Good Point, I can confirm the part number you listed.

YOu are correct the corvette bracket requires a Corvette alt and a corvette P/S pump.
