I have a stock LS1 in my Rotus. Total weight (less driver and fuel) is 1650 lbs. (maybe a little lighter since I've changed the fuel tank).
The car has rock solid handling - eventhough I'm just starting to sort out the suspension for autox.
Haven't been to the dragstrip yet. I'm expecting low 11s or high 10s.

The biggest problem was the damn T56. that f'er is a monster.
Engine fit with no problems at all. Some Rotus cars came with the Rover V8 to begin with. LS1 is definitely bigger, but fitting the engine required no surgery.
For the tranny, two of the 1" tubes had to be shaved (the insides were cut out, and a curved piece welded in).
Other than that, there was nothing special about it. At the moment, I have set the car for autox, so ground clearance is a major issue (2"). I have a dry sump setup sitting here, but so far the pan is not my problem (even though it's the lowest point). I get caught on the bellhousing lip.

1977 Vega with the original aluminum block iron head four cyl. with a TH250 automatic and a full take of gas (I got a loan lol) = 2661 lbs.
I was very surprised to say the least, but it was a commercial scale so I'm sure it is accurate.

Iwould very much apprciate any info that you guy's could prvide.
the sr20det block is aluminum. stock 240s have iron blocks.

What would be required in a Supra hardtop? If you take a NON turbo hard top Supra, you have an excellent, decently light weight platform(albeit nothing close to a 1600 pound Rotus). I would imagine with some weight reduction + the weight loss from the LS1 it would dip under 3000 pounds.
It looks like it has more than enough room to physically fit, so....mounts, I would guess maybe headers...maybe some subframe modification?

I looked at a used kit car about 3 yrs. ago that looked like a cross between a Pantera and a GT-40. Really cool looking. I believe it used a VW trans axle that bolted up to a chevy small block. That car would have been sweet w/a ls-1!

I think it will be the only one because it's an absolutely crazy idea that I would not believe if I hadn't seen pictures.
