If you are jumping power then your starter is okay and youre not getting power. The purple wire is your trigger wire off of your ignition switch. Check for continuity from the ignition switch to the starter... I'm not too familiar with F bodies but i am sure they have relays. If thats the case, check for power on 2 ends and ground on 2 ends. 2 will be power feeds 1 being key turned to start, 1 being constant power and 2 grounds, one being a ground for the coil in the relay to control the big circuit and the other going to the starter (which technically is not a ground but is because it will be a ground until given power to power the solenoid).

If you used your 95 column with everything out of the 98 chances are the vats is your problem. You will have to get the lock cylinder out of the 98 or if you have the vin from the donor car order a lock cylinder that will have the correct pellet in it. Or check your park neutral switch etc if the security light is not flashing.

I reread your first post... sounds like you have 2 problems. 1) Won't crank, you got to figure out why youre not getting power with key to crank. Most likely its in your wiring, if you can shoot up some diagrams I can tell you what to bypass for your neutral safety switch. More than likely thats what it is or simple incorrect wiring. 2) VATS is killing after you jump the terminal to the starter. Simple flash or bypass module will cure that. Hope that helps!

I don't see why not...
As to your no start you are going to have the jump the neutral safety switch. First check the power coming out of the wire that triggers the starter right behind the ign switch. If you have power there then follow the wire to where ever it goes. On an Auto it should goto the PRNDL switch and only activate in park or neutral. If its a manual its going to a clutch safety switch. Is it a manual or auto tranny first off.
