Chris.
Chris.
Have been reading this thread since the get go but never posted because I'm a slack bastard
Now its all coming together I had to get on and just say what an absolute champ you are Pete!!
Its a damn shame that you aren't in Australia because I would love to see this car in the flesh, an absolute inspiration mate!!
Cheers to you mate!

Check the airflow sensor. I've had similar problems with Bosch systems. They start, but won't run. Sometimes they'll idle, but when you touch the gas pedal, they die.
Pete, you must have fitted some monster stereo, some really big shiny wheels, or have you got a 12" tailpipe for Redline to want to feature it? DO NOT LET RENTON DRIVE IT!
Or did you mention the laughing gas..........
Abo - yes I did enjoy racing. But let's not hijack this forum, or bore these people to death with talk of near 180mph LS1 powered cars on a superspeedway.......

Redline featured it before mate, Dan Williamson, who is a freelance journalist, does articles for TV, Redline etc. etc. is a pal of mine and wants them to do it again.
It did run for around 3 minutes, but that was by pouring petrol into the cold start feed.
We think it`s a pressure sensor problem and wrong routing of fuel lines.
Looks like I need a fuel pressure sensor and a fuel pressure regulator.
Is there a fuel return to tank on the GTO ?

Pete,
Describe your fuel setup for us please. (you show me yours and I'll show you mine etc etc
)
You will need a regulator and the return line should go from the regulator to the fuel tank, unless you've put aftermarket fuel rails in place (in which case let us know what you've got).
Rgds
Jim
PS - shouldn't need a fuel pressure sensor though

You can use a return system like you may be more used to. Just fit a FPR and set it to 4 bar, and do not attach a vac line.
Although once Paul is on the job, either way will work with correct tuning/mapping

In the first pic, you can see the supply coming through the bulkhead going to the filter and then to the rail.
Tha other connection, which joins the throttle body, we thought was a return, but then thought it was a cold start and poured petrol down through the plastic pipe. When we did this, the engine ran for about 3 minutes.
Looking through the Holden engine manual, it gives, what we thought was a cold start, as a fume pipe ????
I`m now totally confused
Pete,
By accident you've sussed the problem
The pipe your tipping fuel down is the EVAP system, at pre-determined engine temps/revs it will open and allow in all those nasty fumes from the fuel tank (once they've been through a charcoal cannister first) directly into the inlet tract.....hence why your motor runs if you tip fuel in there.
I'll see if I can draw a micky mouse picture (my skills stop at about that level!!) of my fuel system in a moment. But basically you should have a high pressure pump in the rear somewhere, plus a regulator...picture coming up.
Jim
PS, my guess at the moment is that you don't have the pressure right.

Ive got the walbro 255 pump and an aeromotiv regulator. And if you look on ebay you get a fuel press instrument you can mount on the fuel rail or the regulator, i bought everything on ebay. Works great.
Then you turn the ignition on, look at the pressure gauge while the pressure is building, mine was set at 2 bar from aeromotiv, then you turn a bolt with an allen key on the regulator until youve got right underneat 4 bar (58) PSI, if youre not running a turbo you dont really need pressure from the inlet to the fuel regulator.

Hey Pete
You are awsome -- very quick and craftsman work --
See Stu Cool on this forum for the combined fuel filter/pressure regulator as used on the '99 Corvette. It has an input from tank and return line back to tank on one end; the other end has an output to the single-line fuel rail. It regulates to the required 55-60psi needed. It uses the GM push connectors for fittings.
If you can not source this filter/regulator where you live, I'll get one for you and send it gratis ... glad to contribute to your project! Send me info re: address, etc.

Hey Pete!
I received the link to this thread from an Australian Holden Torana forum and i've gotta say you've done a damn fine job! Just looking at an Astra, it's very hard to imagine an LS1 actually fitting!
Your labour of love will pay off, I rekon it will be an absolute beast to drive!
Well done mate!
